Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi touched another milestone on Thursday, August 13,2020 becoming the longest non-congress serving Indian Prime Minister. PM Modi has also become the fourth longest-serving prime minister in the history of India.
Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, tops the list by serving 6130 days followed by his daughter Indira Gandhi with 5,829 days. Manmohan Singh is at third place with 3,652 days serving for 10 years. The first non-Congress Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee served for 2,268 days in 1996 and from 1998-2004.
Today Prime Minister Modi has become the longest non-Congress PM by breaking the record of BJP’s Atal Bihar Vajpayee with 2,270 days.
Narendra Modi is the third Prime Minister to be re-elected as the Prime Minister after completing 5-year tenure. On August 5, PM Modi also became the first-ever prime minister to visit the Ram Janmabhoomi.
