Maoists surrender to the security forces in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on July 8, 2020

In a huge victory to the police and security forces, 25 Maoists have surrendered at Dantewada in Chhattisgarh. This is yet another victory to the campaign run by the security forces to encourage the Maoists to lay down their arms and surrender. The surrender ceremony was held in the presence of the Superintendent of Police of Dantewada on Wednesday July 8.
The Maoists who surrendered have said that they were disillusion with the ideology and the path taken. Among those who surrendered were three such Maoists who had a bounty of Rupees One Lakh on their heads by the state government. Few supporters of the Maoists also surrendered in the ceremony.
A Maoist couple who surrendered at the ceremony were involved in several attacks on the CRPF and Police convoys including the attack near NMDC.
According to the information provided to the media by the police, many more Maoists in Dantewada have already surrendered recently before the District Superintendent of Police, District Collector and CRPF DIG. The CRPF DIG said that he would help those Maoists who have surrendered to get jobs as per their skills.
So far 58 Maoists have surrendered as part of the campaign being carried out in the area by security forces. The police are seeing the surrender of the large number of Maoists as a big success to eliminate the violent idelogy from the area.
