The distribution drives by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers for providing masks, ration and relief to needy and weaker sections of society, in view of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing lockdown, are gaining momentum with every passing day in various parts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

With the mission of “Har bhukhe pet tak bhojan pahunchana aur desh mai koi bhukha na soye” RSS workers of Samba District, Jammu & Kashmir are reaching out to the poorest and the needy in the lockdown. They are distributing ration and food to the people without any discrimination.

They are providing ration (dry ration as well as prepared food ) to the people who are not able to earn their daily meals. Not only the food supply, but they are also distributing free masks, soaps, detergents, medicines and sanitising the areas. There are a total 9 different units of RSS volunteers working in the entire district and 215 volunteers working day and night. Till yesterday, they have distributed 3506 ration kits to the needed ones.

Around 18,000 food packets have been distributed in different parts of Samba District. RSS volunteers are also telling people to wear a mask to fight the deadly Corona pandemic and distributed over 6300 masks.

As per the data collected, 1445 houses have been sanitised & 3850 families have been helped. Not only the locals but people from different parts of the country were also served by RSS karyakartas.

A volunteer on the ground said to Organiser that the karyakartas are following the mantra of “Nar Sewa, Narayan Sewa” and “Sarv Dharm Sambhaav”.

“We are not only serving the civilians but also the security personnel who are deputed in that area are also served tea and refreshment regularly right from the day one of the lockdown”, he added.

Earlier a Muslim woman from Jammu & Kashmir has donated her savings of Rs 5 lakh, meant for the Hajj pilgrimage, to the RSS-affiliated Sewa Bharati after apparently being impressed with the welfare work done by the organisation amid the lockdown due to the Corona virus pandemic.
