Chennai police have received a letter in which the sender has threatened to kidnap all the 234 MLAs if they attempt to implement CAA, NPR and NRC in the state. The letter, received by Police Inspector M Ravi, was signed in the name of an hitherto unknown Jihadi outfit called Al-Haq which claims to have over 250 members. This is not to be confused with the Palestanian organisation of the smae name which claims to fight for Human Rights in Palestine and Israel. TN Police are probing the matter.
This is the second such threatening letter received by the TN police. In February first week this year, TN police had received a post from little known Al Hind Brigade saying “To the dogs of Delhi special cell and Q branch, we are watching you and shall respond soon. Keep waiting.” Al hind Brigade’s name was first heard when it claimed responsibility for killing of Kamalesh Tiwari, a Hindu leader in Uttar Pradesh four months ago. The outfit had threatened to take vengeance for the TN and Delhi police for the recent crackdown on IS modules in the state. The Tamil Nadu police have been investigating Telegram app post of ‘Al Hind Brigade’ since then without any significant development.
It has been written many a times that after Kerala, Tamil Nadu has turned safe haven for fundamentalists group as they get active support of DMK, left and other fringe outfits. AIADMK, it seems, does not want to antagonize them for fearing losing their votes. NIA has been busting and arresting modules of IS and other terror outfits in the state. Tamil Nadu needs a government that cracks whip on these elements.
In Tamil Nadu, Muslims have been violently protesting since 14th February in North Chennai ‘s Washermenpet, emulating the Saheen Bagh model. In few other towns too, they have staged violent protests. Despite the High Court direction, Muslims marched towards the TN State Assembly.
To counter the Muslims’ protests, BJP and other Hindu organisations held pro-CAA demonstrations which attracted huge crowds. Reports from the ground suggest that the people of Tamil Nadu are fed up with the hegemonic attitude of the Muslims and the political parties like DMK, Congress, left and others who are supporting them and also also spearheading a slew of protests against CAA, NPR and NRC. These opposition parties are also demanding scrapping of CAA and non-implementation of NRC and NPR.
