Secretary of BJP’s Trichy unit Vijaya Raghu has been hacked to death yesterday, Jan 26th. Raghu was actively involved in a house to house campaign educating people about CAA and demolishing false propaganda over the same. It is now suspected that a local Jihadi outift which was opposing CAA are the culprits. Raghu was attacked in front of his house when a gang of Jihadis attacked him when he stepped out. A bleeding Raghu was immediately taken to the hospital but he had expired by that time.
Raghu was an active worker of Pallakarai Mandal of BJP Trichy unit. BJP Tamil Nadu had launched a door to door campaign on CAA recently to educate people and correct the fake news spread about the same. Many BJP workers had faced threats during the campaign from many quarters including Communists and supporters of Dravidian politics.
It was during such pro-CAA campaigns that Raghu was threatened. Yet he continued to be part of the campaign. One Mittal Babu is suspected to be behind the attack. Local BJP unit has blamed the nexus of Naxals and Jihadis to be behind the murder. The police are on the look out for the assailants and those who had threatened and planned the murder.
Campaign to help Raghu’s family
Raghu has left behind a wife and a daughter. He was the sole bread-winner for the family and the family is distraught now. A online campaign to help the family has started. Many supporters of BJP have started to fund the cause.
