Mathematicians from India and Abroad assemble for International Conference on Vedic Mathematics

The three-day International Vedic Mathematics Conference started in Delhi on 22 December. Mathematicians from India and abroad are attending the conference jointly organized by Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani and Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi. The emerging dimensions of Vedic mathematics and applications in research works based on science, technology and social science will be discussed in detail in the conference. The Conference will help in increasing the popularity of Vedic Mathematics and enhancing the usefulness of its principles in modern-day scientific techniques. A competition for students will also be organized during the conference.
In the conference, delegates from various universities and other academic institutions of national and international reputation are presenting their research papers on various topics related to Vedic Mathematics. The major themes of the conference are History of Vedic Mathematics, Vedic Mathematics and Quantitative Aptitude, Vedic Mathematics and Real life Analysis, Challenges for Vedic Mathematics, Vedic Mathematics for the new millennium , Vedic Mathematics in Teaching –Learning Strategy, Computation Vedic Mathematics, Development & Applications of Vedic Mathematics, Vedic Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, Vedic Mathematics and coding Theory, and many other relevant sub themes. Apart from India, participants from countries like USA, UK, Nepal and Bhutan are participating in this conference.
Inaugural Event
The program was inaugurated by the chief guests by lighting the lamp in front of the statue of Maa Saraswati. Saraswati Vandana was presented by the students before the beginning of the conference. The Registrar Dr. Jitendra Bhardwaj thanked everyone on behalf of the university. The event was moderated by Dr. Sunita Bharatwal and Dr. Snehalata Sharma. Dr. Shriram Chatur Wale, Convenor of the Conference Dr. Dinesh Kumar Maidan, Dr. Kailash Vishwakarma, Controller of Examinations Dr. Pawan Gupta, Dr. SK Kaushik, Dr. Vinod Kumar, Coordinator Mohit Rewari, Dr. Rakesh Bhatia Hundreds of mathematics scholars, including university and trust functionaries, were present on the occasion.
The conference was graced by Swami Nischalananda Ji Maharaj-Shankaracharya of Puri Math, Sh. Kanwal Pal-Education Minister of Haryana, Sh. Anil Sahastrabuddhe, Chairperson, All India Council for Technical Education, and Sh. V.K. Malhotra-Member Secretary of Indian Council of Social Science and Research. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Bharti Krishna Teertha Ji, inspired by the Vedas (mainly Atharva Veda) and Upvedas, during his years 1911 to 1918, through his contemplation and meditation, learned the method of solving mathematics from the ancient Indian method through 16 sutras and 13 subsutras. With the help of these formulas, the eight functions of mathematics and solutions of various mathematical branches such as algebra, geometry, arithmetic, trigonometry, decomposition and compilation can be easily obtained.
“India first taught the world the lesson of civilization and culture and India has given zero and number to the world. The idea of Indian civilization and culture is the best in the world”, said state education minister Kanwarpal Gurjar said while addressing the three-day Vedic Mathematics International Conference. He further said that ancient Indian traditions and culture are being adopted around the world. He said that Vedic Mathematics is our own and every citizen has responsibility to propagate it. He said that every possible effort will be made to encourage Vedic Mathematic in the state. Describing this initiative as commendable, he praised the University and Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas.
Addressing the conference Atul Kothari, National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas said that Mathematics was in use in India from Vedic period and India has led the whole world in the field of Mathematics. Vedic Mathematics develops reasoning. He said that if a person is good in mathematics, he will be good in his life.
University Vice Chancellor Professor RK Mittal said that the knowledge we have about human welfare is drawn from the Vedas and Vedic mathematics is also from the Vedas. He said that 11 hobby clubs have been formed to promote the all-round development of the students and their talent in the university. Through hobby clubs, students will be able to better showcase and uncover the talents hidden within them.
Dr. Himanshu, who came to the United States as a keynote speaker, said that without good mathematics, the task of calculation is impossible. Mental faculties cannot be evaluated without good reasoning. When numbers are arranged under a particular rule in a number metrics, you can figure out a missing number only if you know the rule. We use mathematical reasoning and mathematical knowledge in a reasoning tests. Mathematics cannot be solved without reasoning. With Vedic mathematics, we can solve the biggest calculations quickly and accurately. Simple formulas for calculating math have been written in our ancient scriptures, Vedas, Puranas, which can be used to solve mathematical calculations easily. He said that mathematics and reasoning have special importance in life. Most of man’s knowledge is based on mathematics and reasoning. That is why everyone should know the general rules of mathematics. Dr. Himanshu presented several formulas of Vedic mathematics.
About the Vedic Mathematics Conference
In a press conference on the eve of the 3 day conference, Prof. R.K. Mittal, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University explained that “the purpose of this conference is to provide a common platform to the mathematicians, researchers and academicians from all over the world to promote the importance and revival of Vedic mathematics.”
Sh. Atul Kothari, National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas said that “Vedic mathematics is a system of calculation based on Vedas and Indian philosophy. Because of the uncomplicated methods of Vedic Mathematics, its popularity and acceptance is increasing all over the world. Mathematics is basically a Sanskrit word which means to count. But, along with the declining popularity of Sanskrit, the historical heritage of this Indian calculation system had become extinct. We all must shoulder the responsibility to preserve this heritage, in which this conference can prove to be an important link. ”
