Varanasi: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) workers conducted countrywide mass awareness drive about the issues of workers. The drive was conducted from September 25 to October 2. As part of the campaign, demonstrations were held in states across the country. Memorandums were also submitted to the authorities concerned after the demonstrations.
In Uttar Pradesh, the demonstrations were held up to the district level. There are reports of organising demonstrations in 65 districts. Memorandums were submitted to the authorities highlighting the problems of the workers including irregular payment of salary, etc. The workers said the UP government had declared an increase of Rs 1500 per month in the honourarium of the Anganwadi workers, but that decision has not yet been implemented.
