Vij said that during the past five years, Prime Minister Narender Modi was always worried about the welfare of common people in the country including those below poverty line by implementing nearly two dozen welfare schemes for them including housing facilities at much subsidized rates, Ayushman Health Scheme, LPG connections to large number of families below poverty line, 24/7 power supply in rural areas across the country, increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops to benefit farmers to earn handsome income, weeding out corruption in government offices and providing jobs to youths on the basis of merit instead of political affiliation as was done by the previous governments in the state. He said the Prime Minister not only faced terrorism emanating from Pakistan boldly but also gave fitting reply – muh thod jawab – to Pakistan government by killing large number of terrorists in Pakistan through surgical air strike after Pulwama terror attack in Kashmir. Withdrawal of Article 370 in Jammu-Kashmir was another bold step by Modi Government to ensure the security and prosperity of people in the State. Vij said, finding their future political career in doldrums, a large number of senior leaders from Opposition joined the BJP in the past year.

 

 

 

Haryana has around 1.83 crore voters that include nearly 98 lakh males and nearly 84.65 lakh females who would decide the fate of contestants across 90 Vidhan Sabha seats in 2019 polls. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal received warm welcome by the people in the State in recent ‘Jan Aashirwad Yatra’ across Haryana as well as ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ presided by Prime Minister Narender Modi. According to a party spokesperson, BJP high command is vigilant to field only winning candidates in present Vidhan Sabha polls for which a three stage survey is going on at present by a team of members from RSS and BJP high command in consultation with Manohar Lal, for allotment of tickets to winning candidates under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Narender Modi and BJP National President Amit Shah. He told that a large number of political heavyweights from the Opposition have expressed their desire to join the BJP and contest Vidhan Sabha polls but the party is firm on offering tickets to winning candidates only.

 

BJP’s past poll results reveal that the party participated in Vidhan Sabha polls independently without any alliance with any political party in Haryana four times in 1991, 2005, 2009 and 2014. In 1991, BJP contested in 89 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in the State and won only two seats at Shahabad and Mohindergarh. In 2005 Vidhan Sabha polls, BJP contested all 90 seats and again was winner at only two seats – Narnaul and Hasangarh constituencies. BJP was able to win four Vidhan Sabha seats from Ambala Cantt, Sonepat, Tigarnav and Bhiwani out of total number of contested 90 constituencies in 2009. In 2014 Vidhan Sabha polls, BJP won 47 seats and rooted out rival Congress ruling in Haryana since past 10 years and formed its government, followed by victory in Jind bye-elections defeating INLD legislator and number of BJP MLAs in Haryana Vidhan Saba reached 48.

 

Information reveals, BJP is likely to drop many old faces in the upcoming polls to achieve success in ‘Mission-75’ like 2014 Asembly polls in which as many as 67 old faces were denied tickets and only 23 old were able to contest polls. Though 2014 Assembly election is being perceived as ‘Jaat’ vs ‘Non-Jaat’, we cannot forget the fact that BJP had given representation to all communities while distributing the tickets including 25 Jaats. HPCC president Kumari Selja while addressing media persons at her Ambala Cantt residence strongly condemned BJP Government in the State. She said that BJP failed to provide safety to women and children, increasing cases of drug addiction among youths, provide relief to distressed farmers, employment opportunities to youths and economic slowdown faced by the country due to BJP Government’s erratic policies in the past five years in Haryana state and country. She blamed BJP for using abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu-Kashmir as a poll plank in Haryana to divert attention of voters. She also denied that there is any division among Congress leaders and all leaders as well as workers are working jointly to form the next government in the State.
