I see sharp decision making to select an option from the spectrum that was most appropriate. It was a risk, but risk appraisal had been done. The IAF employed the right package of aircraft, weapons and routing besides deception. It was an action couple of notches higher on the escalation ladder and left few choices to Pakistan by ensuring moral ascendancy through only targeting terrorist facilities and not military and civilian infrastructure
The options available at the beginning of the crisis remain intact. A repeat of an IAF strike is always possible on a different target. The diplomatic, economic and social options are very much existing. The only thing is that the right combination has to be chosen. However, escalation dynamics have to be considered. Pakistan is in no position to fight a full-scale war. Its economy is in shambles and attempting to match India bullet for bullet will be very difficult as we progress further. Clearly, India must maintain the pressure but should not lose traction achieved with the international community.
There is only one thing the Indian Forces need from the common Indian citizens. They must maintain social cohesion, respect India’s diversity and stop all rumour-mongering on social media. Be careful of fake news which will be fed by Pakistan ISPR and inimical elements within. Believe in your government and your Armed Forces. Very importantly stop and in fact do not tolerate any mistreatment of Kashmiri people. If ill-treatment continues you make the job of the Armed Forces much more difficult.
