Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi addressing the function in Nagpur
Nagpur: Emphasising the need for overhaul of the entire education system in the country to make it knowledge-centric, RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi said the present education system has lost its real goal of identifying and honing the potential qualities of the students. “Teachers are expected to teach in 35 minutes and the students are expected to obtain 35 per cent marks to clear the examination. In such a system, how we can impart the education which is expected to unfold the potent qualities and capabilities of an individual,” he asked while inaugurating the golden jubilee celebration of Dharampeth MP Deo Memorial Science College on January 1, 2019. Chairperson of the Reception Committee Smt Kanchan Gadkari, president of Dharampeth Education Society Shri Ulhas Aurangabadkar and secretary of DES Shri Ratnakar Kekatpure were also present.
The RSS Sarkaryavah further said education today has become stereotype and needed to be liberated to make it a capacity-building and potential-developing system. The education system should help students excel in life by inculcating values, morals and ethos. He also referred to the ancient ‘Gurukul’ system which was in vogue in the country till the advent of British Education system. He said the education should inculcate wisdom in an individual so that one can utilise his/her knowledge for progress and constructive activities. Knowledge sans wisdom would lead to destruction, he said citing examples of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and threats by South Korean dictator.
Shri Joshi said education today has become a means of getting a lucrative job and earning money in abundance without caring for the deprived sections of the society. The present education system is reduced to an information stuffing system and has lost its goal of imparting knowledge with wisdom, he said calling for striking a golden mean of the old and modern education system.
