Veteran Sangh Pracharak, former BMS organising secretary and Kalyan Ashram leader Omprakash Aggi passes away on November 7
New Delhi: Veteran Sangh Pracharak, Akhil Bharatiya Sah Hit Raksha Pramukh of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and former long time organising secretary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Omprakash Aggi, passed away at Mohipura Village under Badwani District of Madhya Pradesh on November 7. He was 91. He held various responsibilities in BMS for 45 years. He was cremated in Bhopal. Kalyan Ashram organised a condolence meeting in Bhopal on November 11 to pay him tribute.
A joint condolence meeting was organised by VKA and BMS in Delhi on November 13 where scores of senior leaders paid rich tribute and recalled their association with Aggiji. Paying tribute RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal said Aggi lived the life worth emulating. Founder of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat Sardar Chiranjeev Singh and veteran Sangh Pracharak Shri Prem Chand Goel shared their memories with Aggiji. Former BMS president Shri Hasubhai Dave said we can learn moral values in social life from Aggiji. Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram joint organising secretary Shri Vishnukant recalled how Aggiji gave new dimension to the Hit Raksha work of the Kalyan Ashram. Shri SP Tiwari from TUCC said he learnt manything from Aggiji. He said descipline and dedication are the things which can be learnt from the BMS. Union Minister of State for Labour (Ind. Charge) Shri Santosh Gangwar also paid tribute.
In the Beginning BMS north-central zone organising secretary Shri Pawan Kumar said Aggiji wa born at Khokra village under Layalpur District of undivided Punjab in 1928 but his family shifted to Toba Tek Singh. Aggiji came in contact of RSS in student life. He became a Sangh Pracharak in 1948 and held various responsibilities in Punjab Prant as a Pracharak. He was Zila Pracharak in Karnal. Then he was shifted to BMS in 1966 and held the responsibility of organising secretary for many years. He played a key role in strengthening the work of Vanvasi Gramin Mazdoor Mahasangh. He also visited various countries to present the case of the Indian labourers. His simplicity and sharp intellect impressed everyone who came in his contact.

In the year 2009, Aggiji was sent to Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and held the responsibility of Akhil Bharatiya Sah Hit Raksha Pramukh. He visited a number of Vanvasi villages for this objective. He motivated the workers to take up various activities for the protection of tribal rights. On November 6, he was at Mohipura Village under Badwani District of Madhya Pradesh, where he attended the Kanyapujan function at the Ashram of Swami Amritanandji, the Gurubandhu of second RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Guruji on November 7. He met the villagers and also visited several families. In the evening, he joined Lakshmipujan at the residence of a senior worker. After dinner, he suddenly developed pain in the chest. He was taken to the doctor immediately but breathed his last even before reaching the doctor.
In his tribute, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat described Aggiji as a ‘karyakarta’ full of organisational skills, fearlessness, simplicity, hard working and humbleness. He said his life as a Pracharak was inspiring. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the life of Aggiji as the confluence of knowledge, action and patriotism. BMS national general secretary Shri Virjesh Upadhya described Aggi ji as “a model organising secretary”.
Prior to the cremation in Bhopal, he was paid rich tribute by Kalyan Ashram organising secretary Shri Atul Jog, Hit Raksha Pramukh Shri Girish Kuber and general secretary (organisation) of BJP Shri Ramlal.
