Ever since the event where several speakers including Santosh Thammaiah exposed the tyranny of Tipu Sultan, fanatic organisation PFI had been urging the government to arrest Santosh

Well known nationalist writer and Journalist Santosh Thammaiah has been arrested by the Gonikoppa police in a late night action. This follows an FIR filed against Santosh and others by Muslim organisations claiming that their religious sentiments were hurt during an event organised over Tipu Sultan in Gonikoppa on November 5.

Ever since the event where several speakers including Santosh Thammaiah exposed the tyranny of Tipu Sultan, fanatic organisation PFI had been urging the government to arrest Santosh. Today’s arrest on a day when BJP stalwart Ananthkumar passed away has given rise to many questions.
– Why did the police which were silent till yesterday saying that action will be taken only after due investigation, find the need to arrest him suddenly?
– When the writer was available for questioning throughout and was reporting to work as usual, what was the need to arrest in the death of night?
– PFI had been urging for arrest when there was no real proof of Santosh hurting Muslim sentiments. Then under whose pressure did the govt and police act?
– Do journalists under self-proclaimed secular governments have no right to dissent and freedom of speech?
– Do only liberals, seculars and anti-India elements in the society who abuse Hindu gods and leaders every day have the right to free speech?
– If Santosh’s arrest was warranted due to hurting religious sentiments, why doesn’t the Kumaraswamy government take action against people like Prof. Bhagwan who abuses Lord Ram regularly?
The HD Kumaraswamy Government had received a lot of flak for continuing the Tipu Jayanti celebrations. Many allege that this was done so as to not antagonise Muslim sentiments that was pampered by the earlier Siddaramaiah government. The arrest of Santosh Thammaiah has only rekindled the allegation that the Kumaraswamy government is indulging in minority appeasement by pandering to the diktats of Muslims organisations like the PFI.
