The pass outs of Maitreyi Gurukula will be torchbearers of Gurukula education in the country

Mangaluru: Maitreyi Gurukula, situated at Moorkaje near Mangaluru completed, 24 glorious years of its existence. The momentous occasion was observed by celebrating the Ardhamandalotsava on March 27. The inauguration of the Ardhamandalotsava was done by RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat. The function was presided over by Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji of Art of Living. He was also honorary president of the Ardhamandalotsava Samiti. Pujya Sri Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchungiri Mahasamsthana blessed the event. RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi and many other senior Sangh functionaries were also present.
Shri Bhagwat said apart from what we read, developing a radiating and socially-acceptable personality is also education. He said our knowledge system does not believe in blind faith, but in experience and questioning as demonstrated by the debate of Swami Vivekananda and his Guru Ramakrishna Paramhamsa over existence of God. Education does not come just from reading and listening but from going through the experience. That can be imparted only by a Guru and not by textbooks alone. In modern times, there are many experiments to bring ancient gurukula system with modern subjects. Traditionally schooling was not under the government in Bharat. But today, the government does have a role to play in education, but it is primarily the duty of the society to take care of education and schooling of children. The students who graduate from Maitreyi Gurukula will go to the society as torchbearers of the Gurukula education. Such projects will be widely known in the society and more such efforts will be made. He said the people in the society should support the Gurukula.
Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji said India was famous for her towering universities, but today we go abroad for studies. We need to ponder over this and make efforts to bring back our ancient glory in education. Gurukula system has to be re-introduced by adapting to modern subjects as it has been done at Maitreyi Gurukula.
Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji said today we need both modern sciences and ancient knowledge. Institutions like Maitreyi Gurukula are living examples of such an amalgamation and should be commended by all. Patriotism and respect for Dharma are like two sides of a coin and cannot be separated. This has to be inculcated in children. Personality development is real education and not just reading text books and exams. Overall development of the child should be the focus and it is possible through our Gurukula system of education. This is being done at Maitreyi Gurukula for 24 years and is a great effort.
Several exhibitions and cultural events were part of the Ardhamandalotsava celebrations. The exhibition on Ancient Gurukula system, Vedas, Yoga, Pranayama, agriculture and ancient science at the premises gathered the attention of the visitors. Display on the journey of Maitreyi Gurukula, its inspiration and the people responsible for its success was the highlight of the exhibition.
Established in 1994, the Maitreyi Gurukula is the brain child of the Sangh Pracharak the late N Krishanappa, the late Dr Upendra Shenoy and the late Dr Bharati Ramanaacharya. At present there are 97 girls in the Gurukula hailing from 29 districts of Karnataka—two from M.P, two from Gujarat, one from Tamil Nadu and one from Hyderabad.

‘RSS task is Man Making’

Pune: “There are occasions when people in favourable condition or during the supportive governments claim that they were associated with the RSS. But when the situation gets changed, they cautiously mention about their relationship with the RSS. On the other hand there are swayamsevaks who without bothering about the situation or condition tirelessly work for the society. Advocate Babasaheb Chavan is one such worker who is indeed a torchbearer for countless people in the Sangh and the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh. He is inspiration for two generations and hence deserves gratitude on completion of 75 years,” said RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, while speaking at the Amritmahotsava of Baba Chavan, as Advocate Babasaheb Chavan is affectionately called. Convener of the Amrit Mahotsava Samiti Advocate Dadasaheb Bendre and Prant Sanghachalak of Paschim Maharashtra Shri Nana Jadhav were present.
Bhaiyaji further said that moulding the human being is major contribution of the RSS and persons like Baba Chavan have been doing this task for decades and have reached out to depressed and needy people of the society across the country.  The Amrit Mahotsava contribution of Rs one lakh was presented to Baba Chavan on the occasion, which he handed over to the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Pune.

Return More than you Receive from the Society

Jaipur:  The organisations like Ummed Foundation and the well to do people of the society should extend a helping hand to the needy people. The society gives us much.
