Apropos article titled ‘The ‘U’ Turn ‘by Prof C I Issac in issue dated Dec 10 of Organiser. The writer has beautifully projected the chameleon character of Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. It has been rightly written in the report that for survival Kerala Communists now have begun to adore the national icon Swami Vivekananda, who was once an imperialist to them. It was a surprise to all of us to see that a hardcore Communist Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan garlanding the statue of Swamiji installed at Kowdiar, Trivandrum. Here I would like to say that when Shri Eknath Ranade had approached the then Kerala CM EMS Namboodiripad for funds for the construction of Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kayakumari, Namboodripad was the only CM who sent him empty handed without contributing a single paisa. DYFI the youth wing of CPM has also started using Swamiji”s picture on their posters since 2010. Time has compelled the Communists to change their stand on the great Indian patriots and nationalists and the Communists have realised that if they don’t recognise the Indian patriots they have no existence in the land of Sanatan Dharma. If the current situation persists, the present day Communists would soon recognise even Dr K B Hedgewar (Doctorji) and M S Golwalkar (Guruji) and garland their statues. I am sure that enlightened people of Kerala are well aware of the gimmicks of the Communists and would soon punish them to end their bloody rule.

Tune-up CBI It is shocking that all the accused in the 2G Scam have been acquitted and as usual , the blame has been put on the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that it miserably failed to lead the evidence . It is baffling that thousands of crores of public money has been swindled but no one was found guilty. Is it not logical that all hundred-odd cancelled licenses be restored and all cases pending against telecom companies and their management be closed once for all? Is it not bizarre that while scams worth crores of rupees take place, prosecutors in the court fail to prove their case and the accused get acquitted? It appears that an overburdened, poorly trained staff and unequipped CBI and other investigating agencies are fighting a losing battle against the powerful and the mighty who are represented by the best of the brains in the courts. It is high time the CBI and other investigating agencies are sent for long training sessions on how to collect evidence, make watertight cases and improve their ability to prove their case in the court of law. All of this can also improve the miserable conviction rate. Till then, futile exercises will waste time and the hard earned money of poor tax payers. |
A Party to Crime
This refers to the article ‘An ungrateful Congress, tried to Dump Sardar’s Legacy’ by Dr Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari in Organiser dated Nov 12. No doubt, Sardar Patel was altogether different from Gandhi and Nehru, but the main question is that why he continued to remain in the bad company of Gandhi and Nehru? In fact he could have become the first Prime Minister, by ignoring the wishes of Gandhi, as he had the support from all corners of the Congress Party also. It was Sardar Patel who persuaded Constituent Assembly to pass Article 370 of the Constitution giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and it was cleared in the absence of Nehru. Dr Khara, a Hindu Maha Sabha leader, asked in the Constituent Assembly, “Whether Government proposed to declare all the Hindus and Sikhs residing in Pakistan as nationals of India, and claim their protection as such.” Sardar Patel in reply said that “no Government could make any declaration on behalf of any one.” (See The Tribune dated 9.12.1947).

Praiseworthy Approach
It is heartening that the Union Minister for Road Transport Shri Nitin Gadkari has been inspired by the London Mayor and he wants to emulate practices of the British Capital as far as electric buses are concerned. Though in his constituency Nagpur, he has already created the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles and the city is soon to become the first one in the country with electric mass mobility, with more than 50 charging points at various places, the same effort is needed to be put in the case of the capital. With this experience I am sure, Shri Gadkari will be able to replicate the London model here in the national capital to ease out both traffic jams and pollution. However what must be kept in mind is that there should be last mile connectivity through these electric buses and the Delhi Government should be on board in any such move to make this a successful initiative for the people of the National Capital Region. Last but not the least, in terms of opposition to any such move like the Opposition did for the bullet train , Shri Gadkari is famous for his hard taskmaster approach and with Nagpur’s experience, he should silence his critics.

Must Learn Lesson
This refers to the front page story of Organiser titled ‘Meaning of Mandate’ dated, Dec 31. The Bharatiya Janata Party may have won Gujarat for several times in a row now but Gujarat, considered to be a citadel of the BJP, left the Party with a slightly bloodied nose. An assessment of the results shows that the Congress got a push essentially due to anti-BJP rallies of Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani and Alpesh Thakur, who presented themselves as leaders of their respective castes. Finally what the verdict means? The issue of quota could be back in political discourse with Congress’s promise of reservation for Patidars having helped it to consolidate in Patel belts of Gujarat. That should be a worrisome issue.

Good article. We had organised a party to celebrate the victory of BJP in these two states which was attended by a large number of people. According to them not paying attention to the concerns of farmers was one of the factors that made BJP lose more seats. Spending millions of rupees by the Congress to get votes was another factor. Let us take Gujarat as a learning exercise and work hard on coming elections. Congress has already started its stunts by unnecessary defaming Modiji. Unless we expose the illegal properties held by Sonia Gandhi, Vadra and Chidambaram in many places and show the nation how much they have looted, we are going to face the wrath of public. Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura are influenced by Christian Missionaries and we will have a tough fight to get them. If we don’t do well in these states, Karnataka will be a very tough match.

That the Winter Session of the Parliament started on a stormy note is not a good sign. Parliamentarians must concentrate more on transacting business instead of indulging in mudslinging. Wasting precious time of the Parliament and Legislature entails loss of tax payer’s money. Clearly, the Opposition must be blamed for holding the House to ransom. The Congress in particular has not learnt any lesson from the numerous defeats it has suffered. The grand old Party must be reminded that in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, it returned with less than 10 per cent of total strength of seats, snatching from it the Leader of Parliament status. Now it has suffered defeats in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat too. People are watching keenly not only the performance of the Government but also the conduct of Parties when they are in Opposition.

Think of Hunger Too
There is no doubt that digitisation of the economy and the use of internet has improved our lifestyle but can we digital hunger? Is it a mere digitise data that India ranks 100 among 119 countries in the Global Hunger Index 2017? Can we really download it in our realisation? Can we feel the pain of being forced to go to bed on an empty stomach every day? No we cannot. We have experienced hunger only occasionally, when observing a religious fast or for the sake of dieting. We can never digitise the pain of helpless parents who are forced to hear the cry of their hungry children every day. We need an app called empathy to download their agony in our memory.

Mistake that Haunts
Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru dealt with two problems— Kashmir and the Chinese invasion of Tibet. In both the cases, he went against the advice of Sardar Patel and India has been suffering till date. Had we driven out Pakistan from the whole of Jammu and Kashmir and integrated it like other princely states, there would have been no problem today.
