VHP for handing over Amarnath Yatra route to Army
New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanded foolproof safety and security and also opening of the Drass-Kargil route for Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir Valley. It sent letters to chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) NN Vohra and State Chief Minister Mahbooba Mufti for safe and smooth conduct of the yatra. “In view of the repeated disturbances created by stone pelters, separatists and terrorists to the pilgrims, the authorities should not only open Leh-Kargil-Drass-Baltal route, but also the entire yatra route should be handed over to Army with free hand,” said VHP joint general secretary Dr Surendra Jain in the letter.
Drass-Kargil route requires least facilities and pilgrims can start early in the morning from Drass and return back after performing darshan at the holy cave on the same evening provided the traffic is managed proficiently at Jozila Pass. This route was recommended by Justice Mukharjee and Justice Kohli Commissions too, Dr Jain said adding that attack on the pilgrims will not be tolerated.
No need for fresh negotiations on Ayodhya
New Delhi: Former VHP president Shri Vishnu Hari Dalmia said there is no need for fresh negotiations with Muslims over Shri Ramjanmabhoomi issue. In a statement issued on May 10, he said Muslims had at one time agreed that if it is proved that the Masjid was constructed after demolishing the Temple, which existed there, they would withdraw their claim on that property. “This commitment of Muslims is also contained in the White Paper issued by the then Government. So, where is the need to start fresh negotiations with them now?” he asked.
Shri Dalmia said, in the light of Allahabad High Court judgement there is no need for any further discussion with the Muslims. “It is now only for the Government to take action according to the Affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that if it is established that a Temple already existed there and it was demolished, then they will side with the Hindus to construct the Ram Temple and if it was not so then they will side with the Muslims to reconstruct the Mosque at the same place. Now, the Supreme Court has only to remove the wrong, which the High Court has done by allocating the land there to the three parties, which was not the issue before them. Therefore, it is now only for the Government to take action according to the Affidavit, which was filed by them. This was done when the Congress was in power. So even the Congress, as the main Opposition party cannot object to the same, if the present Government acts on it,” Shri Dalmia said.
