“The Babri issue would have been settled long ago if the Muslim intelligentsia had not fallen prey to the brain washing by the Leftist historians. It was they who connived with the extremist Muslim groups to derail all attempts to find an amicable solution to the Masjid issue. Some of them even took part in several government-level meetings and supported the Babri Masjid Action Committee.”
— Dr KK Muhammed, former Regional Director (North)
of Archaeological Survey of India

After a series of upheavals and legal conundrums the issue of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya is back on the national scene. The ball is back in the court of the parties involved in the dispute for a resolution through dialogue. There are expected reactions from various quarters but by and large there is a mood to reach an  amicable solutionat the earliest. The real  challenge to smooth  resolution of this issue is not posed by the  community leaders or common masses but by  eminent intellectuals and historians who always distorted the debates in their own interest.
Historically, it was a well accepted fact that there was a temple structure in Ayodhya and the disputed structure was created by destroying it in 1528 by Mir Baqi, who worked under Babar”s command. Many attempts to restore the temple, for the sake of  national pride are also well documented.  It was only after the Independence that our historians created a myth that ‘there was no destruction’. After years of argument, the fact about the temple strucutre and subsequent destruction was proven in the Court of Law when Allahabad bench of the High Court heard the case. So the notorious attempt by Communist historians to defy the facts of history has been busted. The only benefit perhaps they got was further  widening the gap between Hindus and Muslims of Bharat and get some more funding for their pet
projects on ‘communalism’ and ‘secularism’. The
divisive project started by the British is further
extended by the secularists and the Communist in the post-Independent Bharat. This has to stop once and for all.
For this the onus lies on the Muslim intelligentsia. The people who preferred Pakistan  followed the path of Caliphate and always linked themselves to the global Islamic movement. In this centenary year of Caliphate movement and in the age of new Caliphate movement which is more violent and harming the Muslim community itself, it is time for Muslim leaders to think whether they still want to connect with the invaders by following the path shown by the Communists or want to be part of the larger national heritage.
The discussion about Sri Ram Janmabhoomi should be out of the religious discourse and should become a national discourse. As we got rid of  the British and their symbols after Independence and  created our Constitution, we should get rid of other symbols of invasion. It is a matter of who are we as a nation and Muslims, like true Bharatiyas, should come forward to reject the legacy of Babar.
It is a testing time for us as a nation. We are  reinventing ourselves in many ways. The acceptance of Yoga and Ayurveda all over the world is recognition of not just the New Bharat but also of our common ancient heritage. All of us, irrespective of our ways of worship, should be proud of it. Instead of harping on our own ghettos we should connect with the larger ethos. Participation of all in the construction of grand Ram Temple is a golden opportunity for us to pave the way for new Bharat where religious bonds will be strengthened by mutual trust and common cultural heritage.                                                  @PrafullaKetkar
