What prompted the nationwide protests against the CPM is the series of atrocities incurred on workers of opposition parties during the nine months of CPM-led LDF Government

What people got from LDF for giving them a clear mandate for ruling the state for five years is nothing but notorious anarchy. Number of cases for crime against women and children was 16,960 during the last one year which include 2,568 rapes! Out of the total rape cases, victims were women in 1,644 incidents where children were at the receiving end in 924 cases in 2016. They were 1,263 and 720 respectively in 2015. Crimes against women were 14,061 and 2,899 against children, out of the total number of crimes against women and children. These are the figures of state police provisional crime statistics. During the same period 2,093 cases were registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). Apart from rapes, other crimes against women, including molestation, kidnapping, dowry death and cruelty by husbands or relatives showed upward trend too.
It seems that the Chief Minister Vijayan’s political opponents do not have any right to live in Kerala, let alone enjoy the freedom of expression; and even right to travel if it is in Kannur district. Eleven RSS/BJP workers have already been murdered by CPM men in the state after Pinarayi Vijayan’s government took over last year. Vimaladevi is the woman balidani among them. Vimala and her husband’s brother Radhakrishnan died due to third degree burns they suffered when the CPM goons blasted their house in Kanjikkode. CPM burnt the dais where the ashes of Vimala was received and paid respects in Parappanangadi, Malappuram district BJP is taking the ashes in a procession to Manjeshwaram, Kassergod district for immersing it in the holy river there. Thousands of people are participating in the processions and the receptions on the way. BJP leader Shobha Surendran said that CPM was afraid of the procession carrying Vimaladevi’s ashes. She said, the procession traverses through Kannur district on its way to Manjeshwaram. She challenged the CPM leaders to answer the questions of BJP about the cowardly act of setting fire to the dais at night. They are afraid of a direct physical attack, hence they indulge in the act of burning during mid-night. Shobha Surendran leads the procession in the northern districts. Bharatiya Mahila Morcha president Renu Suresh leads the procession in the southern districts. Every reception turns mammoth rallies.
Selective Freedom of ExpressionThe CPM has been shouting from the roof tops that they are for freedom of expression. But they have been always selective in the matter. As a latest example of double standards of the party, CPM issued red fatwa against staging a drama, based on a novel “Thiyoor Rekhakal “(Thiyoor documents) by N Prabhakaran. The CPM Area Committee issued a circular stopping the party cadres from watching the drama organised for raising funds for building a cultural village for the fond memory of the late SFI-DYFI-CPM leader and writer KS Bimal. The drama was supposed to be staged on February 18 and 19. It was directed by Narippatta Raju based on the novel authored by N Prabhakaran twenty years before. |
The news of the death TK Hafisudheen, IS terrorist hails from Kerala, in the reported attack of an unmanned US plane has once again underlined the fact that Kerala is rapidly being radicalised and nearly infested by the IS terrorists. Hafisudheen was one among the 22 persons, including women, who had left Kerala last year to join IS. The NIA and RAW have started enquiry about the incident. But, still the LDF government, just like its UDF predecessor, is pedaling slowly in matters related to Islamic extremism. The office-bearers of Peace International School, Kochi, still appear to be facing no legal challenges. The books they teach have been found carrying the matters creating religious divide. Organiser had carried the pictures of those pages last year. Zakir Naik’s connection with the school had been highlighted by the media during that period. Mareen aka Mariya, who was one among the 22 persons who had fled the country to join IS, was reported to be a former staff of the school. On the other hand, Enforcement Directorate of the Central Revenue Department, has rejected Naik’s plea to depose before the investigators via skype. If he does not comply with this 4th summons, ED is expected to issue a warrant under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). If he still ignores, GOI will have to take up the matter with the Government of the country he lives in and take steps to bring him back to Bharat.
Even though the police have arrested Pulser Suni, the prime accused in the molestation of the famous south-Indian actress, from the court in Kochi when he managed to enter there to surrender, people suspect an arranged drama behind it. They believe that LDF Government is trying to save some big shots in the film industry and political field in connection with this case. They say that their stand remains vindicated as CM Vijayan told the media that there was no conspiracy behind the abduction of the actress. Later, he clarified that he had declared so after going through a newspaper report. It is believed that CM’s statement was a signal to the investigators to ‘do the needful.’ BJP leader V Muraleedhran alleged that ‘CM knows the real culprits behind the abduction and CPM saves them.
BJP leader AN Radhakrishnan demanded probe into the involvement of Binish Kotiyeri, the son of CPM state secretary Kotiyeri Balakrishnan, in the actress abduction case. Binish immediately said that he would file defamation case against the BJP leader. But, interestingly, even after more than a week, Radhakrishnan has not received any notice!
Meanwhile former DG of Police T P Senkumar IPS declared in a Special Leave Petition (SPL) filed before the Supreme Court that he was removed from the DGP’s position by the LDF regime as an act of revenge. He said, he had given hints against the CPM leaders in the Shukkur murder case and TP Chandrasekharan murder case, hence had invited the wrath of CPM brass. He made it clear that Kannur witnessed only a single murder during his stint as the DGP whereas it has multiplied three or four times after he was shifted from the post when LDF came to power last year.
Vijayan denounced the RSS on the floor of the house on February 27 in connection with his Mangalapuram programme where the various nationalist organisations had called for hartal to protest against the CPM’s murder politics in Kerala against the Sangh and BJP. Addressing the CPM rally in Karnataka Pinarayi had said that RSS is conducting arms training in the temples and his government would bring law to ban it. BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan shot back that CPM is no more a party of ideologies but of bread and butter. He countered CM’s statement that Hindustan is a communal term saying that he (CM) lacks knowledge about history.
A large section of Kerala population believes that CM and his government are reluctant to take actions against the management of Kerala Law Academy for their blatant violation of rules. Former Principal Lakshmi Nair has still not been arrested for her alleged Dalit atrocities and other cases which were registered years ago; no action yet to seize the excess land being enjoyed by the management ignoring the rules!
Women Security schemes have failed miserably. Women have lost confidence in Nirbhaya scheme, Pink Police, Pink Beat, etc. If a woman in Kochi dial’s Pink scheme’s phone number, it rings in Thiruvananthapuram which is almost 200 km far from Kochi! Additional Bhumika Counselors, appointed under National Rural Health Mission, are facing the threat of
termination of their services.
That the Pinarayi government is an absolute failure is not the argument of the BJP or Congress alone. Veteran CPM leader and former CM VS Achuthanandan, who is also the Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission, stated that nobody is being punished in corruption cases. Chief Commissioner of Right to Information Vinson M Paul, IPS, says that criminals exist in civil service.
A couple of weeks ago, Sushma Sahu, the member of the National Commission for Women said that atrocities against women keep on increasing in Kerala. She was surprised to observe that the former Kerala Law Academy Law College Principal Lakshmi Nair still had not been arrested despite clear cut allegations of Dalit atrocities and atrocities against girl students. She met Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner and demanded quick actions against genuine allegations. She said, Commission would register case against Lakshmi Nair based on the complaints received from the students.
Two girl students, who had to undergo tortures by the SFI goons who resorted to moral policing in Thiruvananthapuram University College, met Sahu and submitted their complaints. The girls who are pro Leftist and their friend were beaten by the SFI workers. A similar incident has been reported from Sri Sankara Sanskrit University, Kalady near Kochi. The girl has complained to the police against the SFI workers for beating her and her friend when they came to the campus to
watch the annual day programmes.
Several Leftist women celebrities have come out and issued public statements against the CPM and SFI in connection with the Kerala Law Academy, University College and atrocity against the actress, etc. They have been supporting CPM always and criticising Sangh parivar leaders even for nothing. The latest of them is the sharp criticism unleashed by actress Reema Kallingal, who has been always with CPM, against CPM and their TV channel Kairali for suggesting that relation between the actress and the former driver should be investigated. The suggestion speaks out where CPM stand.
While two girl students and one of their mail friends were watching a drama programme in Thiruvananthapuram University College, SFI men attacked and beat them. After hearing the statements of the girls, Sahu said that she had realised that SFI’s goonraj ruled the roost in University College. Even though the investigation officer was summoned, he behaved in an irresponsible manner, Sahu said. She would complain to Home Secretary and DG of Police in this regard. CPM regime proved their ‘negative’ mettle once again when they allegedly violated the protocols by denying the facilities for food, vehicle, security, entourage, etc. for Sushma Sahu.
Pinarayi, his party and his government have shamelessly supported the anti-students, anti-women, anti-Dalits
treatment of former Law Academy Principal and Academy’s blatant violation of land rules, Society Acts, University Acts and other rules of the land, due to either fear or favour. It proves that Pinarayi is the worst and the weakest CM Kerala has ever seen. Lakshmi Nair has still not been arrested under Dalit Atrocities Act, thanks to the soft corner CPM maintains for Kerala Law Academy.
In Neyyatinkara, CPM goons attacked even the Government General Hospital where BJP men were
undergoing treatment. The members of the staff had to run away for saving themselves from the attack. But, superintendent of the hospital did not complain to the police even after twelve hours! In short, the people of Kerala are fed up with this worst sort of so-called government. They do not know how to pull on for another four years under such a nonsense administration.
