Readers’ Forum :No sovereignty outside Indian Constitution

(SC shows the Mirror, Jan 1); This refers to the article ‘SC shows the Mirror’ by Deepak Zazia in Organiser. I was very happy to learn that the Supreme Court has once for all clarified the issue of the so-called sovereignty of Jammu & Kashmir, which separatists and likeminded people were claiming the State had. The apex court unambiguously stated that Jammu & Kashmir “has no vestige of sovereignty outside the Constitution of India”. It made it clear that while the State has a Constitution of its own, that is subordinate to the Constitution of India and the people, who are permanent residents of the State, are first governed by the Constitution of India, which is supreme and later on by the constitution of Jammu & Kashmir. While calling a Jammu & Kashmir High Court’s ruling of the last year as “disturbing”, a bench of Justices Kurian Joseph and Rohinton Nariman said the High Court that gone out of its way “to refer to a sovereignty which does not exist”. The Jammu & Kashmir High Court must understand that it must uphold the Constitution of India and not to undermine it. Now that the apex court has taken a finale call, the nonsensical talk of sovereignty must end.

They are not Refugees BUT Citizens

There has been an unnecessary hue and cry on the part of the mainstream political parties and also the separatists over the Jammu & Kashmir Government’s decision to grant identity certificates to the refugees from West Pakistan. The separatists have called for a shutdown with demands that instead of granting identity certificates to the refugees they should be sent back to Pakistan or rehabilitated elsewhere. It is indeed a travesty that politics has taken precedence over the grant of citizenship rights to these people who have chosen Bharat over Pakistan after having witnessed bloodshed over Partition. The claim of the Opposition and also the separatists falls flat on the face because the refugees have very much been part of Bharat. They have been living here not for years but for decades ever since Independence, which was the time when we the citizens of this country, like them, gained Independence. A correction may also be in the line for those who refer to them as refugees. In fact some of them have been living in Bharat for decades and are fourth-generation descendants. With a BJP Government at the Centre and also in coalition with the PDP in the State, hopes are high that these people would gain some concessions from the Mehbooba Mufti Government. BJP Government has time and again shown its commitment to make Bharat a natural home for persecuted Hindus. Recently it has approved a package of Rs 2,000 crore for PoK refugees. The Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken the first step in this regard. Now both the Union and the State Government must not fail them. They deserve a humanitarian and just approach.

Communal Cauldron
(Mamata’s Wholesale Muslim Appeasement, January 8 ); This refers to the article titled ‘Mamata’s Wholesale Muslim Appeasement’ by Saumyajit Ray in Organiser, describing appeasement of Muslims by Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. The writer has appreciated Muslims of West Bengal by saying, that “West Bengal avoided being swayed by the Leagues’s anti- Hindu rhetoric –-” and further adds that, “West Bengal Muslims, who had more in common with West Bengal Hindus than with east Bengal Muslims—” It is this type of falsehood, which is responsible for what is happening in West Bengal. West Bengal includes Kolkata also. It was here that large scale slaughter of Hindus was done by Muslims in August 1946, in response to direct action call given by Jinnah & Muslim League for creation of Pakistan. It is due to presence of large percentage of local Muslims, that Bangladesh/East Bengal Muslims are able to get shelter and infiltrate illegally. It is foolish to make differences between East and West Bengal Muslims. Hindus in general are politically stupid and are least bothered, if their Hindu brother next door is slaughtered by Muslims. This is truer for Bengali Hindus. Hindus of West Bengal have been voting to power anti-Hindu political parties all these 70 years, completely ignoring the miserable condition of their Hindu brothers in East Bengal. The writer of this article is no different from ordinary Bengali Hindu, and is suffering from the disease of anti- Hindu secularism. There is no use of weeping, if one cannot speak the truth, and hides the aims of the Muslims of West Bengal.

Diversionary tactics
Nobody, including the Opposition sans the Congress, takes Rahul Gandhi seriously. Even Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is on a mission to outdo the Congress scion, and who also levels unsubstantiated charges against the BJP in general and Prime Minister in particular, has asked Rahul Gandhi, to explode the information bomb outside the Parliament, at a press conference or in a public meeting. The nitty- gritty of the matter is that the Congress, having failed in its attempts to tighten the noose around the BJP government on demonetisation and stalled the Parliament for the Winter Session, wants to mislead the people by diverting public attention from the success of demonetisation. Let us not forget that the move has yielded billions of rupees as black money.

Dashamguru
(A True Karmayogi, December 25 ); I greatly appreciate the article on Shri Guru Gobind Singhji titled ‘A True Karmayogi ‘by Devender Singh Sawhney in Organiser. The writer has highlighted the greatness of Dashamguru and his illustrious works very succinctly in a few pages. Although a drop in ocean on the 350th birth anniversary of Dashamguru, yet a great effort by Organiser Weekly. I am sure it will benefit its readers and generate curiosity to learn more about Dashamguru, a great national awakening personality of the time.

Gobar Gas is Safe
(A Blue Flame Revolution, November 27); This refers to the article titled ‘A Blue Flame Revolution’ by P Sandeep. I totally agree with the view that wood, coal, charcoal and alike (except cow dung) causes damage to the environment. And the blue flame revolution (which we get from Gobar Gas) has brought smokeless fuel in rural areas. Gobar Gas is safe, eco-friendly, economical and easy to compress, store and transport. Seeing the importance of Gobar Gas I wish to ask, why is it that it is not being encouraged? UPA did not do anything to encourage since commercialisation of Gobar Gas would have saved the cow from getting slaughtered and this would have affected its vote bank. But why NDA-2 Government is silent about it, I fail to understand. It has to fulfil its election promise.

Milestone in the making
I am very happy to learn that the finale testing of Agni V Missile will be soon done. By this India will soon join the super-exclusive club of nations with high-ranging Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM). Those that currently possess such missiles are America, Russia, UK and China. The ICBM is reported to be a game – changer in the nuclear kitty of India. Unlike other missiles, Agni V and its earlier version Agni IV are meant as deterrence against Chinese designs. Though globally, India’s missiles have a low striking capability, yet we are way ahead of Pakistan’s most advanced missiles like Shaeen and Ghauri series, which were suspected to be developed with the covert support of technologies from China and North Korea. Given the cross-border realities and those in the region in general, India must relentlessly pursue its missile technology programme.
