New Delhi: “The dominance of selfishness and violence that we see in the world today is due to the absence of compassion. Only India can restore this spirit in the world,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while releasing a book, Compassion in 4 Dharmic Traditions, in New Delhi on July 26. Published by Prabhat Prakashan, the book has been compiled by Prof Ved Nanda. Former Deputy Prime Minister of India. Shri LK Advani was present on the occasion.
Shri Bhagwat said dharma has no existence without karuna—compassion. But unfortunately, compassion is found nowhere in the world today. “The one who possess compassion cannot have jealousy and if one does not have jealousy there will be no suffering.
Shri Advani said the book elaborates perfectly that the four religious traditions of India—Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism and Buddhism—share the same core element of compassion. By compiling this book Prof Nanda has done a good job. He said one who criticises other ways of worships cannot be the well wisher of his own way of worship.
Prior to it, four eminent personalities including Dr Balwan Singh, Sardar Chiranjeev Singh, Dr Shagun Jain and Shri Vivek Saxena presented the element of compassion found in Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism respectively. n
‘Journalism should shed defiance and be humble’
Pune: “Journalism was once a mission but today it has crossed the limit even of professionalism. The arrogance has entered in the profession and journalists need to be more humble,” said Shri Ram Madhav, BJP general secretary while presenting Narad Journalism Awards on July 23. The function was organised by Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Paschim Maharashtra Prant. Senior journalist Dilip Dharurkar, Shri Mustafa Attar, Shri Ganesh Kore and Shefali Vaidya were honoured on the occasion. President of VSK Shri Manohar Kulkarni, president of Deccan Education Society Dr Ajit Patwardhan, principal of Fergusson College Shri Ravindrasinh Pardeshi also shared the dais.
Shri Ram Madhav said the journalists should consider every award as an additional responsibility. “The scientists make a nuclear bomb in 20 years, but a journalist prepares a nuclear bomb every day. There is an urgent need to bring back the missionary zeal of that era,” he said. Shri Dilip Dharurkar said the media has to turn to national renaissance now. Sewa Bharati job fair proves to be a big hit
New Delhi: The job fair organised by the Sewa Bharati Delhi on July 24 at Nutan Marathi School in Paharganj, Delhi proved to be a big hit. More than 1,500 youth turned to the fair and a large number of them were recruited by the big companies of Delhi. The youth were also imparted training by noted HR guru Shri Rakesh Arya. Some companies hired 70 youth while some hired 4-5 as per their needs. About 50 companies visited the fair. The youth presented themselves before the companies as per their profile.
‘Teachers should focus on both education and knowledge’
New Delhi: “Apart from education the teachers also need to focus on Vidya (knowledge) and the samskars. All schools impart good education to the students but even then there are news reports of crime everyday. Since the children spend more time with the parents they have to play an important role in imparting them required samskars. They have to act like a teacher and at the same the teachers too should don the role of parents,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while conferring Shikha Bhushan Awards in New Delhi on July 24. The awards were presented by Akhil Bharatiya Shaikshik Mahasangh.
Shri Bhagwat stressed that the personal conduct of a teacher should be worth emulating as it leaves deeper impact on the personality of a student. Dr Pranav Pandya of Gayatri Parivar said education should be based on values of life. There may be so many faults in the education system but the teachers should not shun their duty. Three educationists—Shri Dinanath Batra of Shiksha Bachao Andolan, Dr Prabhakar Bhanudas Mande and Sushri Manju Balwantrao Mahalkar were honoured with Shiksha Bhushan awards by Shri Bhagwat and Dr Pandya. Shri Mahendra Kapur, Prof K Narhari, Prof JP Singhal and Shri Jaibhagwan Goel also shared the dais.
Citizen journalism training

Noida: Prerna Institute for Media organised a two-day citizen journalism training workshop from July 23 to 24. A total of 58 people from Vaishali, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Greater Nodia and Delhi participated in the workshop. RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Prachar Pramukh Shri J Nandakumar stressed on truthfulness and positivity in the news. He said journalism should not be to divide the society but to unite. Because of the alertness and activeness of the citizens it has become tough for the mainstream media to suppress any news.
National Book Trust chairman Shri Baldevbhai Sharma spoke about the challenges before the present media. IIMC Director General Shri KG Suresh said social media can also prove to be an important instrument of citizen journalism. Dr Arun Bhagat from Makhanlal Chaturvedi Patrakarita University, Dr Amitabha Srivastava from Galgotia University, Dr CP Singh from IP University and Shri Narendra Thakur guided the participants.
Gurditta Ramji is no moreNew Delhi: Gurditta Ramji, popularly known as Swamiji, passed away at Keshav Kunj in New Delhi on July 9. He was 89. As per his wishes, his body was donated to Lady Harding Medical College, New Delhi. He was paid rich tribute on July 21 at a condolence meeting held at Keshav Kunj. Born at Shahjivana Mandi in Jhang district (now in Pakistan) in 1927, Gurdittaji became a swayamsevak in 1945 and started looking after the kitchen in the Layalpur Sangh Karyalaya. After Partition, on instruction of Madhavrao Mule, he came to Jalandhar and then at Keshav Kunj in New Delhi. He spent his entire life in looking after various responsibilities like kitchen, garden, security, etc at the Keshav Kunj. He got the opportunity to serve many senior Sangh leaders including Shri Guruji, Madharao Muleji, Bala Saheb Deoras, Baba Saheb Apte, etc. He had close relations with Thakur Ramsingh and Shri Chamanlal. His brother Shri Motiram Sapra said when he grew old the family members wanted him to stay with them, but he insisted to stay at the Keshav Kunj only. Speaking at the condolence meeting RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Prem Kumar said though Gurdittaramji was not a Pracharak, but his dedication and commitment was no less than a Pracharak. |
Fighting against drought
with a difference
Pune: RSS Jankalyan Samiti Maharashtra did a commendable job while dealing with the drought hit regions of the state this year. During the drought, the State Government made various efforts to supply drinking water to the affected people, but it proved inadequate, as there was no provision for storing such water. The Janakalyan Samiti, while taking timely initiatives provided water tanks with the capacity of 2,000 and 5,000 litters in about 200 villages, which proved to be as the great relief to the affected people. In addition to it, the Samiti provided water through tankers to 52 villages in Latur, Beed, Dharashiv, Solapur, Pune, Parabhani and Sambhajinagar Districts.
Apart from it, the Samiti organised cattle camps in 17 villages wherein the cattle were provided feed throughout the drought period. Four cattle camps in Latur, three in Beed, two in Dharashiv, two in Sholapur, one in Sangali, one in Nagar, two in Nashik, two in Pune were organised. A total of 14,403 cattle were provided with feed in all these camps.
In order to provide drinking water, the Samiti made arrangements at 20 places in Latur city and also at famous temple in Tuljapur. The Samiti provided over 1,000 bowls to the families so that they can provide drinking water for the birds in and around Latur and also made arrangement of water ATM in selective places at Solapur. As part of the long term solution, the Samiti undertook massive escalation work at various ponds and small rivers in Latur, Dharashiv, Jalna, Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Solapur, Nagar, Beed, Satara and Pune.
Apart from distributing water containers to 200 families of Latur city, the Samiti made food arrangements for 60 students from the drought hit areas appearing for examinations of 11th & 12th standard.

‘All should work in unison to materialise the dreams of freedom fighters’
New Delhi: The freedom fighters had the dream to see Bharat again as a prosperous and self-reliant nation. This dream cannot be materialised only by depending upon the government. The entire society has to contribute in it,” said RSS Uttar Kshetra Sanghachalak and noted economist Dr Bajranglal Gupt while speaking at a function organised by Nishtha, a voluntary organisation, to celebrate its seventh anniversary. Former Union Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and Managing Director of Punjab Kesari Smt Kiran Chopra were also present. Famous composer Shri Santosh Anand was specially honoured on the occasion. A book, Sashaktikaran, was also released.
Dr Gupt stressed on four points that need to be followed by the people working in the social or cultural fields. One is sensitivity towards the social issues. Second is service feeling—doing sewa without expecting anything in exchange. Third is cooperation—working in unison. Dedication of the worker is the fourth aspect. Dr Joshi reminded the Indian tradition of seeing God in the needy. Smt Chopra called upon the society to dedicate at least one per cent of their income to the social causes.
