Jodhpur: “During the reigns of Shivaji, the Hindu society was disappointed and terrorised due to the repeated invasions. Shivaji cleared the atmosphere of disappointment by generating the feeling of patriotism and sacrifice in the Hindu society. Today, the news of migration of people from certain places deeply disturbs us. In this situation it is our responsibility to remove the feeling of disappointment from those who are trying to migrate. It is the responsibility of the government to create the feeling among the people that it is our birthplace and are nation and we will not leave it at any cost,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while addressing a gathering of Swayamsevaks in Jodhpur on June 19. A total of 4,805 swayamsevaks attended the function.
Shri Bhagwat said the Hindu society felt the sense of peace and happiness during the reign of Shivaji who ensured a transparent and discrimination free administration. He united the Hindu society. Even printing began in the country during his regime. Shivaji was instrumental in conceptualising and creating the navy. He said as Shivaji tried to create a responsible society, the Sangh is also today trying to create the same society. It is our responsibility to generate a sense of self-respect among all sections of the society.
NGO workshop by Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti
Bhubaneshwar: Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti (UBSS) organised a two-day workshop for voluntary organisations at its Sewa premises in Mancheswar Industrial Estate from June 11 to 12. The workshop covered the issues of health, rural development and livelihood. A total of 159 representatives from 112 organisations representing 27 districts of Odisha participated in the workshop.
Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram inaugurated the workshop. Government officials from Tribal Affairs and Rural Development Ministry shared information about popular schemes where the NGOs can play crucial role in reaching out to public.
RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Pradeep Joshi appealed to all the NGOs to work with sewa spirit and help the downtrodden and needy people. Senior Pracharak Shri Sunder Laxman highlighted the work of Rashtriya Sewa Bharati and explained how the SHGs could bring transformation in the society. President of UBSS Shri Prakash Betala proposed a vote of thanks. n
Sarsanghachalak releases Dr Kalam’s Aarohan
Nagpur: RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat released a book, Aarohan, in Nagpur on June 21. The Book is Hindi translation of Transcendence, a historic book penned by former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam vividly describing his memorable meetings with Pramukh Swamiji Maharaj of Swami Narayan Sect. Judge of International Court Dr Chandrashekhar Rao and Sadguruvarya Pujya Dr Swamiji of BAPS also graced the occasion. Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Hansraj Ahir, co-author of the book Prof Arun Tiwari and scholar Dr V K Juluri also graced the function organised by BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Wathoda. The book depicts spiritual journey of Dr Kalam and how his meetings with Pramukh Swami over a period of 14 years changed his world view.
SCs/STs & OBCs too should get reservation in AMU
New Delhi: RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal said the SCs/STS/OBCs should get reservation in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), because it is a central university and the tags of minority institution and a central university cannot go together. He was speaking at a seminar organised by Sach Foundation at Patel Chest Institute of Delhi University on June 18. The topic of discussion was ‘National Reservation Policy and Aligarh Muslim University’.
Enumerating the historical facts related to the formation of AMU Dr Krishna Gopal said it was formed as Mohammadan Anglo Oriented School in 1873 and became a high school in 1875. It got the recognition as a college in 1877. The demand to make it a university began in 1900 after the death of Sir Sayed Ahmed Khan in 1898. In 1915, when the Banaras Hindu University Act was passed, Malaviyaji accepted the conditions that the medium of instruction will be English and the University will be regulated through the Act. Later on Muslims too accepted the same conditions and the government agreed to make AMU central university on similar lines.
Dr Krishna Gopal said the discrimination done with the SC/STs and OBCs in AMU should be rectified. Convener of the Sach Foundation Shri Balbir Punj, senior advocate Monika Arora and some others also spoke. n
Reconnecting to roots
Uttarakhand : In order to reconnect the village people, who have migrated to cities in search of jobs or employment, back to their village, the people of Chai Village under Jaiharikhal block of Pauri District in Uttarakhand organised a three day Chai Gramotsava from June 12 to 14. The three day event witnessed many religious and social activities and also deliberations by many eminent personalities focusing on village development. This festival is organised every year since 2010 and it has received huge applause from across the country as it is an endeavour to exhort the people to protect the village culture and also join hands in village development. The festival was inaugurated by noted social activist Shri Suresh Jakhmola who said the experiment develops a new hope in village development. On second day MLA from Chaubattakhal Shri Tirath Singh Rawat said the initiative would resolve many problems of the villages. Col Shri Buddhivallabh Dhyani appealed to the people settled in urban areas to return to their roots. Former vice chairman of Village and Khadi Industries Board Shri Prem Barakoti, social activist Shri Padmesh Barakoti and many others also spoke. n
Second year Sangh Shiksha concludes in Rohtak
Rohtak: Second year Sangh Shiksha Varga of RSS Uttar Kshetra concluded in Rohtak on June 18. A total of 365 swayamsevaks from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh attended the Varga, which began on May 29. The concluding ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor of PGIMS Rohtak Dr OP Kalra.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony RSS Uttar Kshetra Sanghachalak Dr Bajranglal Gupt said the Sangh has been working since 91 years to create a self-respected, strong, prosperous and harmonious Hindu society. He said all the activities carried out by the swayamsevaks aim at developing the spirit of natiaonalism. He said the swaymsevaks are always in forefront in the fight against natural or man-made calamities or any threat to the national security. Dr OP Kalra said if the youth are strong by character the entire nation will become strong. He appreciated the dedication and commitment of the Sangh swayamsevaks towards the nation.
Sparing a day for Nature
Bengaluru: Uttishta Bharatha, a youth organisation, organised ‘Spare a Day for Nature’ event. For eight weeks they are continuously contributing towards making Karnataka green again. More than 12,000 seed balls (seeds which were carefully covered with wet soil then kept for drying under sun) were successfully planted by 985 school kids near their schools and villages. Uttishta Bharatha volunteers, school teachers and public participated at Gangasandra, Devagere, Agara, Doddipalya, Tataguni and Banjarapalya school surrounding. Students also covered along the road sides. Finally, Uttishta Bharata volunteers covered the surroundings of Agara Lake also. The hope of every environment conscious volunteer in this event was to see a more greener area near South Bengaluru and plenty of fruits for the next generation once these seeds develop into big trees.
‘Babuaji’s home is a pilgrimage centre’
Gaya: Union Minister of Arts and Culture Dr Mahesh Sharma and Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smt Maneka Gandhi visited the house of Bihar’s first Sangh swayamsevak the late Krishnavallabh Prasad Narayan Singh, who was popularly known as Babuaji, in Gaya on June 9. Dr Sharma described the House as a pilgrimage centre where many eminent personalities including the RSS founder Dr Hedgewar, second RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Guruji, Veer Savarkar, etc. spent time. He said six RSS Sarsanghachalaks have spent time in the house. Apart from it, film maker Prithviraj Kapur and Rajkapur also spent time there. Many Sangeet Sadhaks of Gaya stayed there. Both Dr Sharma and Smt Gandhi termed their visit to the place as their fortune. Many eminent personalities of the city including noted classical singer Pt Kameshwar Pathak, Rajan Bindusar, Kaushik Mitra, Kavi Rajiv Ranjan Pathak, Dinesh Kumar, social activist Shri Ramnarayan Sharma, etc were also present. Shri Anand Prakash Narayan Singh, grandson of Babuaji, and also the South Bihar president of Sanskar Bharati, welcomed the dignitaries. n
Seva Kshetrada Dheereyaru released
Bengaluru: Rashtra Sevika Samiti Pramukh Sanchalika V Shantha Kumari, popularly known as Shantakka Tai, released a book in Kannada Seva Kshetrada Dheereyaru at Kannada Sahitya Parishat Hall. The book was published by Sevika Prakashana Bengaluru, a unit of Rashtra Sevika Samiti. Chief Editor of the book, Dr SR Leela, veteran journalist DG Lakshman, social activist Sushri Chitra Joshi from Nagpur, RSS Kshetra Sanghachalak Shri V Nagaraj and many other prominent functionaries were also present on the occasion. Learn a lesson from Kedarnath tragedy
New Delhi: RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, while paying tribute to the victims of Kedarnath tragedy of 2013, stressed the need to learn lessons from the tragedy. He said the nature’s furies have been reported in the Himalayas earlier also, but the heartening damage witnessed in 2013 was never seen. The things related to the Himalayas were the same earlier too, but even then our ancestors managed the things and the region grew as devbhoomi. How it happened needs to be studied and the ancient traditions should be kept in mind while formulating any policy about the Himalayan states.
The Sarsanghachalak said our development concept should always respect the mutual relations. That is why there has been a boundary between the human beings and the nature. It is universal truth that whenever we cross our limits, there is a danger to the existence of the human beings, he added.
Former Union Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said the development and protection of the Himalayas needs different policies than the plane areas. Therefore, we should have different policies rooted to the local needs and geography for the Himalayan states. He also warned of the dangers being created by China by building dams on the Brahmaputra River.
Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar stressed on the need and not the greed to save the Himalayas. He said the government is going to conduct a study of the Hamalayas by involving experts. Union Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman said Uttarakhand is not a hill station for spending summer vocations. It is a religious place and all policies and rules should be formulated accordingly. Former Chief Minister of Uttarakahand Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ stressed the need to create a separate ministry for the Himalayan states. Dandi Swami Shri Jitendra Swamini stressed the need to differentiate between the tourism and pilgrimage. Union Minister Major General (retd) Shri VK Singh, MP from Bihar Shri Ashwini Chaube also spoke. RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal was also present on the occasion. n
Gurucharan Singh Gill re-elected Rashtriya Sikh Sangat president
Kurukshetra: The general body meeting of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat was organised in Kurukshetra from June 18 to 19. The meeting re-elected Sardar Gurucharan Singh Gill as national president for two more years. The formalities of re-election were conducted by election officer Shri Ramesh Prakash Sharma. Shri Avinash Jaiswal proposed the name of Shri Gill, which was supported by national general secretary Shri Biharilal, national vice president Sardar Devender Singh, Vidarbha Pradesh president Sardar Rajender Singh Bhangu, Malwa Prant president Sardar Inderjeet Singh, etc. Shri Gill has been holding this responsibility since November 28, 2002. He is originally a trade union leader who worked with the BMS for about 15 years in Rajasthan. He is also an educationist who has been a member of Mohanlal Sukhadia University’s senate member, president of Shri Guru Nanakdev Education Committee and chairman of Shri Guru Harikishan Public School. He is also a lawyer. n
