Tripura Communists urinated on the face of a student who had put a sticker of Bharat Mata Ki Jai on his motorcycle

In another display of Leftist intolerance inside university campuses, members of Students Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of CPI(M)— urinated on the face of a student who had put a Bharat Mata ki Jai sticker on his motorcycle. The gruesome incident occurred in Kamalpur Subdivisional College in Dhalai             district, Tripura.

“CPI (M) has been ruled by goons, and uninterrupted power has resulted in uninterrupted corruption (both           financial and moral). No wonder, the ruling party is silent on the incident —Sunil Deodhar, BJP incharge for Tripura”

Alok Deb, 21, a second-year student in the college and resident of Shantipara in Ambassa subdivision, was dragged into a room by SFI activists who first beat him up and then urinated  on his face. Later, the SFI goons were heard saying that Alok Deb’s mouth had become impure by saying Bharat Mata Ki Jai, hence they had purified it (by urinating  on his face). The Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar from CPI(M) is yet to comment on the incident.
According to the sources, Alok had gone to the college to appear for his semester examinations. When he was leaving, some SFI activists took him to a room in the campus and handed him a receipt of payment of the entry fees to join the students’ organisation.
When Alok refused to accept the receipt, four to five students rained blows on him. Then he was dragged to a room and pinned to the floor and at least two students urinated on  his face. They also snatched Rs 1,500 and his gold chain.
After the incident, Alok tried to meet the college principal Chanda Bhattacharya but he was prevented from doing so. Later he went to Kamalpur Police Station with his grandfather, Tejendra Deb, who is also a senior BJP leader and filed a complaint. It is said that Alok was again attacked for lodging a complaint.
The FIR mentions the name of Manoj Sinha, Birajit Debbarma, Raja Majumdar and Suleman Ali. But the police is yet to arrest them. BJP has alleged that despite lodging the complaint, police is yet to take action against the SFI members. Soon BJP will start a series of agitation programmes which will be attended by senior BJP leaders.
Sources said, “A similar incident had taken in the college last August when a student refused to join SFI. The Police could not do much because of political pressure.” BJP’s incharge for Tripura cell Sunil Deodhar told  Organiser, “No doubt, Left ideology doesn’t believe in the concept of nation and thus, nationalism is nothing more than a fallacy to them. A party which puts its ideology over nation can and will never serve in the interest of the nation. It uses folly, fear and barbarism as an excuse to expand or thrust its ideology to masses.”
“One is always allowed to take an ideological stand (however screwed it may be) but is one allowed to harass others only because they don’t stand by one’s ideology. No this is not a stand; it is hooliganism. And this hooliganism rules Tripura today. CPI (M) has been ruled by goons, and uninterrupted power has resulted in uninterrupted corruption (both financial and moral). No wonder, the ruling party is silent on the incident”, he added.
He further said that we know that the present government of Manik Sarkar will not say anything, and that’s why we have taken to ourselves to raise this issue. I don’t want to comment on CPI (M) ideological or intellectual stand here, for I see this incident, as a case of moral bankruptcy more than anything and a stand against nationalist ideas. I put a simple question, is this the cost of being a nationalist in Tripura. Although the incident has drawn widespread condemnation but the media has not showcased the    gruesome crime.
