(Organiser, 17.1.2016); Apropos to the article titled ‘Dissecting the Attack’ by Nitin A Gokhale in Organiser. The article is a very well written piece. I feel the Modi government must realise that the Pakistan army has supremacy over the elected government. It is time that Bharat adopts a tough attitude towards Pakistan and cancels all talks till Pakistan responds positively by handing over at least some of the most wanted terrorists who are involved in terrorist activities in Bharat. Their modus operandi is now evident. After each apex level dialogue with Bharat, a singular violent attack is mounted on the soil of Bharat. In doing so Pakistan hopes to perpetuate the notion that it is the non-state actors that are involved in such acts of terrorism, even as the government in Pakistan vows to pursue normalisation of our bilateral ties.

Beware of tantriks

Nowadays there is a spate of advertisements issued on behalf of so-called tantriks claiming miraculous cures for physical and psychosomatic ailments as also increase in sexual powers. They also attract attention of married women having no child or facing neglect from their hubbies promising to set right everything. Many women are thus trapped by these tantriks who then go on to subject them to sexual abuse and rape. A number of news relating to such incidents keeps on appearing in media. Such incidents could have been averted had our law-enforcement agencies enforced the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 (the DMR Act, for short), which prohibits advertisement of magic remedies. As per the Act,  magic remedy includes a talesman, mantra, kavacha, charm etc. alleged to possess miraculous powers for or in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of any disease in human beings or animals. It is disheartening to note that most of our policemen and officers do not even have knowledge of this Act. A jail sentence up to one year together with fine is prescribed in it. The important thing is that the offence under the Act is cognizable. The Advertisement Standards Council of India and the media must take note of the provisions of the DMR Act and stop advertising on behalf of tantriks.

First apply on yourself

The recent purchase of new cars by the AAP government, to ensure that there ministers do not suffer while travelling from one place to another, has proved that what they say they do not practice. The party has deviated from the very purpose of the odd-even scheme, i.e. to make the national capital pollution free. By running additional vehicles and cunningly overcoming the rules of odd-even scheme, the AAP’s stand has been paradoxical to say the least.

Self-praise is no solution

Every day on radio, tv and print media we hear self praise advertisements of Kejriwal. But in reality the false achievements which he and his party claims are not true.   Kejriwal was voted to power with a huge mandate, amidst much fanfare. It is saddening that he has not learnt the art of governance and has not yet fulfilled any of his false promises. In fact, his tall claim of having spotless candidates has already been busted as a few of his MLAs have been accused of various charges. Time is indeed running for him to prove his credentials. If he does not prove his worth and his style of working people of Delhi who have got fed up with his style of working will definitely show him the door.

Welcome decision

The Union Government’s decision to increase maternity leave is an important step towards ensuring greater participation of women in the workforce. This was a much needed change. The proposal to make mandatory crèches within a kilometre of work place is the most practical one. A good crèche near or in the workplace can give working mothers and fathers the much needed freedom and relief for doing some productive work.

A Strategic Challenge in Every Way

(Organiser, 17. 1. 2016); This refers to the article A Strategic Challenge in Every Way by Lt Gen (retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain in Organiser. The Pathankot terror attack has once again proved that although we claim that our borders are secure but the truth is the other way round. The attack has brought to fore the need for enhanced security system and better coordination among our security agencies. There can be no doubt that terror attack at the Air Force base was meant to inflict maximum damage to the strategic assets of the Air Force. However we are fortunate that there mission failed.

Letter to the Editor
(Organiser, 20.12.2015);This refers to the comments of Shri Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala State, titled ‘Letter to the Editor’ in Organiser. He says that his government has kept the democratic values by allowing people to consume beef. I wish to explain him the true values of democracy. It is not democracy where you snatch the food of one group of people to feed another group. Here, in this case by killing a cow to feed people, organic farming will drastically get affected, where when one person is fed with beef, in that place at least 10 people can be fed by food grains. Mind it, we are losing not less than 20 tons of organic manure by killing a cow before its natural death. Shri Chandy has further written that beef is being consumed since centuries. I cannot even imagine that a Chief Minister can be so ignorant and tell a white lie. For his kind information I want to make it clear that the First War of Independence in 1857 took place because beef was used in the cartridges. So how can he say that beef was consumed since centuries. By making such statements, he is violating Article 48 of Indian Constitution, which is not democratic. It is not that Oommen Chandy is ignorant about the importance of cow, but he is not carrying out a healthy democracy and playing political gimmick at the behest of vote-bank politics.

Growing Islamophobia and Bharat

(Organiser,3.1.2015); This refers to the article ‘Growing Islamphobia and Bharat’ in Organiser by Shri Bhagyashree Pandey. The writer has shut his eyes from reality of Islam and has blamed Hindus for Islamophobia. He has tried to befool the Hindus by suggesting, that if steps are taken to improve the economic status of the Muslims by way of skill development things would be alright. Not only that he has threatened Hindus by saying “Hindus know very well what the result of such division along religious lines did to society in 1947”, as if the Hindus were responsible for what happened in 1947. Shri Pandey must know that it were the Muslims, who created conditions and indulged in mass slaughter of Hindus to get Pakistan as their exclusive homeland. Now they have no claim even to live in truncated Bharat, meant to be the homeland for the Hindus, including small percentage of non-Muslims. Even after creating Pakistan, the Muslims are still living in truncated Bharat and putting to danger the existence of non- Muslims. The views in the article are confusing and dangerous. Such articles should not find place in a nationalist weekly like Organiser.
