“When Muslims threatened Jagnnath with desecration and destruction it was the Bhonslas of Nagpur who came to the rescue of Orissa. Today the call of succour has again come from Nagpur. And this time the RSS call is going to save not only Utkal but all Bharat, “declared Shri Nilkantha Das, Ex-President Orissa Congress Committee presiding over the 25 th. annual Shastra Pujan celebration of the RSS branch at its Nagpur headquarters, on Reshimbagh grounds.
Today the RSS completes 25 Years of its glorious existence and Reshimbag, where the last remains Adye Sar Sanghchalak Dr Hedgewar, lie consecrated in a Samadhi tang to the full throated songs of the thousands of Swayamsewaks and other citizens who had gathered 10 pay homage to his memory.  Exactly at six the Chief Guest Arrived led by Shri Guruji, Sar Sangh Chalak and the RSS  Secretary Dani and Shri Ghatate, Nagpur Sangh Chalak. The RSS band drummed welcome. Raja Raghuji Bhonsle the scion of the royal Bhonsla family, also attended with his two sons. Shri Guruji stopped for a moment at the Samadhi of Dr Hedgewar to pay his respect. The seried ranks of the problems that beset us. All Attempts for peace and prosperity will fail in the absence of National character. All our plans in the circumstances will turn out to be costly luxuries which might please us at the moment but can only disillusion and disappoint us in the end. First things must come first. This society which has been reduced to a dharmashala with it Its members no better than self-centred self-seekers must be revitalised on the rack foundation of its inimitable undying culture.
“It was in fact a desire to stop this rot manifested in self-fishness and disintegration in the great Hindu Samaj that Dr Hedgewar started the Sangh. The Hindu feeling was a great binding force, he realised. “Today sang completes 25 years of effort and achievements During this period it tried to infuse society with the spirit of Hindu culture. In this direction it will continue to exert itself till the end is achieved and this Nation is strengthened lard, integrated and spiritualised.
“People lightly allege that Sangh is reactionary. Let them know that Sangh is no lifeless football to react to outside acts. Sangh works with love for love. The Russian method of hate is foreign to it. The Yogi in his love for fellow beings can only act. Reaction is alien  to him. Sangh knows no reaction. Let reactionaries in Bharat know that their imitation of foreign isms will not help this country. In the conflict of tomorrow only that nation would wield influence which has something positive and original to contribute to a peaceful life.”
“All attempt at social uplift work done today is like adorning a corpse. What is required is some sort of Sanjivani which would revive this dying nation, Guruji said.  Calling on the RSS men to retch this ideal of one Hindu family, one nation, to everyone he said: “Just because a person belonged to Congress or Socialist Party he is not an outcaste. He still belongs to the Samaj and is a brother.” Introducing Shri Nilkanth Das, Shri Golwalkar said, he was one of those who laid the foundations of Congress in Orissa. The very fact that he was here showed that the RSS had no political bias.
Nagpur Calls Again
Speaking in English with an apology for his inability to speak in fluent Hindi, silvery-haired Pandit Das said that he was over-whelmed with the honour that Sangh had done to him in asking him to preside over Vijayadashmi celebrations which coinsided with the silver jubilee of the Sangh.
Hindu way, Superior
Deploring the tendency to style Hindu-mindedness as communalism, he said, “The term Hindu is comprehensive and non-communal. It stands for all that is good and noble in life. Far from being ashamed of it we have every reason to be proud of it. Foreigners had deliberately spread Falsehoods about Hinduism. But cow that we are free we have no reason to believe those falsehoods.
Your Privilege and Duty
“It is the message of this mighty culture that Sangh has undertaken to spread. The ideal before them is that of social service. Some people these days announce themselves as ‘the servants of the people’. That is not the way of service. Here modesty is an indispensable quality. Society affords the individual an opportunity for service, for fulfilment. “This is the Sangh attitude. It is the right attitude. The Sangh therefore has a bright future in the New Bharat that is rising before our eyes.”
