BJP president Amit Shah said in Kollam on Septemebr 27 that BJP stands best chance to form its government in Kerala after the assembly polls scheduled to take place by May 2016. Addressing a mammoth party rally christened as Navodhana Samgamam (Renaissance meet) in Kollam, Kerala, Shah said that after the victory in the ensuing assembly polls in Bihar, party has to fight elections in Kerala, Assam, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. While the people of Kerala want a non-Congress and Non-Communist government, the people of other three states are for non-Congress governments.
Shah ridiculed the CPI (M) for their decision to celebrate Ganesholsavam and Sri Krishna Jayanti. He was referring to the latest CPI (M) plight when they celebrated ‘Secular Sri Krishna Jayanti’ and ‘Secular Ganesholsavam’ and the consequent unenviable plight the red party landed in. He quipped that at least the BJP could show the right direction to the atheists. He called on the people of Kerala to give a chance to his party since both Congress and CPI (M) have been smashing the people’s aspirations since the very inception of the state in 1956. Despite having intelligent people and good amount of natural resources Kerala still lags behind in development, because BJP has never ruled the state. If the state developed, the young generation of Kerala could work in the state instead of going to other states as well as abroad. The state is in the grip of scams after scams. Even though BJP is growing in the state, it could not send a single BJP representative to the Lok Sabha in 2014 elections; but, 21 per cent of the voters pinned their hopes on Narendra Modi. Shah said that Narendra Modi Government stands for the development and welfare of the common man. Its agenda is to resolve various issues related to the common man and fulfill the poll promises. ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’ has benefitted 15 crores of people.
Amit Sha’s visit served as shot in the arms for the Kerala BJP in the wake of Local Self Governing Bodies (LSGB) elections going to take place in November, 2015. The following days Vellappalli Natesan, the general secretary of the SNDP Yogam, the community organisation of OBC Ezhavas, and other Yogam leaders met PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in New Delhi and declared their LSGB election plan of joining hands with BJP. Yogam’s declaration has baffled both Congress and Marxist camps who were already worried about the growing BJP clout in the state in the light of the party’s sterling performance the recently held Aruvikkara by-election to the state assembly witnessed. CPI (M) veteran VS Achuthanandan and Pradesh Congress Committee President V M Sudheeran made it a point to shower desperate criticisms on Vellapalli and BJP several times a day. Former ISRO chairman Dr G Madhavan Nair is tipped to be the patron of the proposed Third Front of SNDP and BJP. Meanwhile leaders of Kerala Pulaya Maha Sabha (KPMS), the organisation of the Dalit Pulaya community, have offered their support to the new political Front. Swami Sankarananda, Swami Maheshwarananda and Swami Paramananda, the monks of Shivagiri Math, met Shah and discussed the annual Shivagiri pilgrimage. Shivgiri Mutt was founded by Kerala’s most famous Hindu monk Sree Narayana Guru Swamiji.
Earlier Amit Shah was the chief guest in the 62nd birth day celebrations of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi in Vallikkavu, the head quarters of Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Addressing the gathering of several thousands of devotees, Shah said that Amma is the embodiment of love. Amma translated the concept of Vishwamanavan (global citizen) into practice. Amma puts in all efforts to eradicate the evils like environment pollution, starvation, exploitation of the women, etc. He thanked Amma for the supports being given to the Modi government’s programmes like Swacha Bharath, Clean Ganga Proejct, etc. Recently Amma has contributed Rs 100 crores towards Clean Ganga Project. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley received the cheque from Amrithanandamayi Devi last month.
The programme was addressed by Hon State Governor Justice P Sathashivam, Kerala CM Oommen Chandy, senior VHP leader Ashok Singhal, BJP Organising Secretary Ram Lal, former union minister of state O Rajagopal, BJP State President V Muraleedharan, SNDP General Secretary Vellappally Nateshan, union ministers Najma Hepthulla, Shreepad Naik, Manoj Sinha, Hindu Aikya Vedi State Secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan and several MPs, MLAs and state ministers. —T Satisan
