RSS swayamsevaks across the world remembered their icon for social resurgence, Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of RSS, on his 126th birth anniversary on March 21. There are reports of organising various functions across the country.
RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi addressed a gathering of uniformed swayamsevaks in Ahmedabad on March 21. He stressed the need to make a Bharat which can lead the work based on Hindu values of life. “We have been giver and not the receiver. That is why Bharat provides a solution to the challenges that we see before the world today. We have been able to save our existence even after facing so many onslaughts and the credit to it goes to our decentrialised social system. Our religious places were attacked but the social structure remained unaffected,” he said.

Bhaiyaji said our schools should become the centre of man making. Education should not become a business at all rather the educational institutions should develop human beings and not just doctors, engineers, etc. The schools should be the centre of social upliftment. He also stressed the need to preserve the good practices in families. Speaking at a function in Bhubaneswar Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale appealed to the people to refrain from casteism and make all efforts to uproot it from the society. He said casteism as an issue deeply hurts the society. “People at public places like Kumbh Mela, hotels, restaurants, buses, trains or even in social festivals behave as if there is no caste or class. But in personal life they behave contradictory. This hypocrisy should go,” he said adding that there is no casteism in the Sangh and it always tries to uproot casteism from the society. He said it was the British who made casteism more significant as part of their divide and rule policy. Sharing an airplane experience Dattaji said on December 31, the pilot congratulate the passangers for the New Year, but the same pilot didn’t congratulate on the eve of Bharatiya new year. It signifies we have forgotten our own self, our culture and beliefs.
Speaking at a function in Surat Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal said the responsibility of restoring social harmony in the society lies with the Sangh workers. He said Dr Hedgewar initiated the thinking of harmonious society. “Dr Hedgewar did not open any school, colleges or orphanage home. He used to say the country would not change with just some patriots or great personalities. He wanted to create an army of patriots so that the nation could achieve the pristine glory,” Krishna Gopalji said.
Book on Dr Hedgewar in Tamil
A book in Tamil, Dr Hedgewar– Vaazhkkai Varalaaru, was released in Chennai on March 20. The book is translated version of the original Hindi book written by Nana H Phalker. It has been translated into Tamil by Shri Vanniyarajanji. Shri Pon Radhakrish-nan, Union Minister for Transport released the book. Shri Ramagopalan of Hindu Munnani received the first copy. Shri Pon Radhakrishnan spoke on how a swayamsevak contributes for the integration of the society and the nation. Shri Ramagopalan explained how Doctorji’s path showed the way to work for a casteless society. Uniting everyone and working for the cause of a society is the way in which the organisation works. Shri Vanniyarajan, Kshetra Sanghachalak, quoted the incidents from the life of Dr Hedgewar and highlighted the growth and strength of the organisation from the early days. He appealed all to follow the views of Dr Hedgewar in their respective organisations in which they work for. Shri Sadagopan, Uttar Tamil Nadu Prant Prachar Pramuk coordinated the event. Shri Sethu Madhavanand and many other Sangh adhikaris were also present on the occasion.
Bharat Parikrama Yatra to Assam on March 30
Bharat Parikrama Yatra led by senior RSS Pracharak is going to enter Assam on March 30. It is in West Bengal since March 5. It entered West Bengal from Bihar’s Kishanganj district. Shri Kedilaya traveled in West Bengal’s Uttara Bang Prant till March 24. On March 25, the Yatra entered Assam. It will be in North Eastern states including Arunachal Pradesh till December 2015. In January 2016, the Yatra will return to West Bengal but continue its journey in Dakshin Bang Prant. Then it will reach Odisha in February 2016.
On March 24 he visited Tea Gardens of West Bengal and spend time with the labouers working in the Tea Estates. Talking to Organiser over phone Sitaramji said the response that the Yatra received in Bihar was unprecedented.
The Yatra had entered Bihar on December 31, 2014 through Gopalganj. During the 65 days tour their Shri Kedilaya visited several historical places also like Mithilapuri, the place where Sita was born. He also visited Girijasthan, where Sita used to come from Janakapur to a garden to collect flowers. The place is also called Madhuvani. He also visited Girija Mandir, a local temple there.

RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat visited Riddhipur Village of Amravati district in Maharashtra where the first book in Marathi was written by Chakradhar Swami, the founder of Mahanubhav Sect. Addressing a gathering there he said the spirit of Indian nation is spirituality. Hindu culture can be described in one sentences but it is a difficult thing to follow in everyday life. It took 800 years to the Hindu society to take a notice of one sect. This tendency has caused immense loss to us. We need to increase the periphery of our affection for the people. Preaching of Swami Chakradhar was not restricted for those who follow Mahanubhav Sect, but was for all. All great men in the world have preached truth and non violence, words might have been different. We need to stand as one society and coming together gives the strength to society. All sects teach about good character to people. Entire world is looking at India with all expectations and only India can show the way to world. We all should share out sorrows and joys. We should strengthen our society as like our family, he said.
Shri Bhagwat visited Riddhipur on March 19. The historical place is 9 km from Chandur Bajar towards Morshi. Rajmautt, founded by Chakradhar Swami, is still there. The Sarsanghachalak also visited the library where the first Marathi book is kept. He had discussions with Mahanubhav saints at Yakshadeo Mutt and also paid visit to Datta Temple founded by a spiritual personality the late Bhau Deshpande.
Entire Riddhipur was decorated to welcome Shri Bhagwat. All roads were decorated by Rangolis. All India Mahanubhav Parishad and people of Riddhipur felicitated Shri Bhagwat at a programme. Thousands of people from surrounding villages had gathered to listen to Shri Bhagwat. Saints of Mahanubhav Sect mentioned that visit of Sarsanghachalak added a moment of glory in the history of the sect. “We and RSS are not different and it is the matter of pride for us to get connected with the RSS,” said Karanjekar Baba, prominent saint of the Mahanubhav Sect.
