RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat on February 2 visited the highly reputed ‘Gaali Anjaneya Temple’ at Mysore Road in Bengaluru. It is city’s oldest Hanuman Temple. The Sarsanghachalak offered prayers at the temple. He was greeted by the members of temple committee.
RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Mangesh Bhende, Prant Pracharak Shri Mukunda CR, local RSS leader Varadaraj and others were also present on the occasion.
Gaali Anjaneya (Gaali in Kannada means Air or Wind) Temple is one of the oldest and sacred temples of Bengaluru located in Mysuru Road Byatarayanapura, the suburb of Bengaluru. Saint Sri Vyasaraya of Channapattana, a great philosopher and devotee to Lord Anjaneya built around 732 temples for Lord Anjaneya (Hanuman). It is believed that Shri Vyasaraya established this temple in the year 1425 at the convergence of two rivers – Vrishabhavathi and Paschimavahini (at present only industrial waste is flowing making Vrishabhavathi seem more similar to drain rather than river).

In a first of its kind, the coastal city of Kasaragod witnessed its ever largest gathering of uniformed RSS swayamsevaks walking with pride at the Path Sanchalan in streets of the northernmost town of Kerala on February 1 evening. It was Vijaya Shakti Sangam, a mega gathering of the swayamsevaks of Kasaragod revenue district.
Veteran Sangh Pracharak Shri Sethu Madhavan addressed the gathering. RSS Kerala Prant Sahsanghach-alak Shri KK Balaram and RSS Mangaluru Vibhag Sanghachalak Dr P Vaman Shenoy also shared the dais. Major BA Nanjappa Rai was the chief guest. Brigadier Icchilampady Nanjappa Rai presided over. Shri Kajampady Subrahmanya Bhat, national convenor of Parivar Prabodhan, Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Dakshin-Madhya Kshetra Sampark Pramukh, Kerala Prant Pracharak PR Shashidhar, RSS leader KR Mohanan, Re. Imbibe the spirit of Vivekananda

RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale unveiled a bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda on January 12 at Sullia in Karnataka. The new spot has now been named as Vivekananda Circle. Speaking on the occasion Shri Hosabale said the clarion call of Swamiji is still relevant. He said the youth should inculcate character, sacrifice and service in their activities, as Swamiji also inspired the youth to dedicate themselves to the cause of the nation.
“Mere installing a statue and worshiping is not our goal. We must imbibe the spirit which Vivekananda preached worldwide. We can pay tribute to the great personality by joining the service of the country,” Shri Hosabale said. Teachers have to be nation builders

“If the teacher remains a student throughout the life, he/she can truly be the high level nation-builder,” said Didi Maa Sadhvi Ritambhara while presiding over a symposium in Delhi on January 27. The symposium was organised by Medhavini Mandal of Rashtra Sevika Samiti. The topic of the symposium was National Duty of the Teachers.
Didi Maa further said everybody focuses on meritorious students and the students sitting in the last raw are left ignored. But if the teachers really wish they can easily bring those students also in the first row.
Shri Atul Kothari of Shiksha Bachao Andolan said the major cause of social problems is degradation in the character. The topic of discussion should be how to build the character and how the syllabus should be designed. The syllabus, which denigrates the great characters like Sri Ram and Sita cannot help in building character.
Pro Vice Chancellor of IGNOU Smt Sushma Yadav called Dr CV Raman as the best teacher. Smt Asha Sharma, Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sarkaryavahika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, described Chanakya as the best teacher. —Organiser Desk
“The nation has high hopes from the youth. Their minds should be ignited with values,” said Justice (retd) MN Venkatachaliah while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a two-day national conference on Education in Bengaluru on February 4. The topic of the conference was ‘Value Initiatives in Institutions of Higher Learning—key to Youth Empowerment’.
Jointly organised by Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women and Disha Charitable Trust, the conference was inaugurated by Karnataka Governor Shri Vajubhai R Vala on February 3. Vice-Chancellors of reputed universities, eminent educationists, founder and head of various reputed institutes of higher learning, academicians, professors and research students attended the conference. Papers on various topics, which imbue value initiatives at higher learning, were also presented.
“Indian universities and other leading academic institutes should raise their standards when compared to the excellence in the West, especially in the science. In Western institutes the-research is moving from universities to industries. The society must move with values on humanism and address the issues of human survival,” Justice Venkatachaliah added.
Management Guru, Prof Mruthyunjaya Atreya also stressed on the values. “There are 5 key values which youth should imbibe and perform. They are patriotism, humanity, contribution to the world, dharma and self-realisation,” he said.
The Conference stressed on setting up of national mission for value; five nodal centres in India governed by MHRD focusing on content development, capacity building, ICT, Research and Development; and pilot study in five states reaching a selected 20 institutions.
Prof S Naganand, Vice-Chairman of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College presided over the valedictory function.
