For years, now, Muslim League Ministers of the Congress Led, United Democratic Front (UDF) have refused, to light traditional lamps at functions, citing it Un-Islamic. But for their information, the Cheraman Mosque, the first Mosque in India, in Kodungallur, near Kochi, has huge oil lamp, burning 24 hours. The lamp and the Mosque are replicas of traditional Kerala Temple architecture.
Right from the time he took charge as Education Minister in 2011, PK Abdu Rabb, has been displaying his extremist positions. He changed the name of his official Government Bungalow from ‘Ganga’ to Grace. Like in the past, he refused to light lamps at major functions, organised by Education Department. Posts of Heads of wings in the Education Department were given to Muslims, overlooking seniority. Loss making private schools owned by Muslim managements were converted into Government – aided – schools putting burden of crores on the public exchequer. 12th schools and additional seats were alloted to Muslim management schools in Malappuram district; despite vacancies available in most schools.
Taking Rabb’s obsession for green (Muslim League Flag) to Thuklack heights, he asked women teachers coming for a meeting to be addressed by him, to be dressed in Traditional Kerala Sarees and green Blouses!
The Dalit Headmistress of a reputed government school in the capital has shunted out for keeping the gates of the all girls school locked and for delay of a few ministers for the minister to be let in. The Minister had arrived two hours late and keeping in view the security of the girls the HM had closed the gates.
Now adding another feather to his clown cap, reports have come of the Minister spending Rs 2,31,000 public money for hosting an ‘Iftar Party’ during Ramzan. The Minister had instructed five wings of Education Department to contribute Rs 46,200 each to the Science and Technology (S&T) Museum in Thiruvananthapuram. The total of this comes to Rs 2, 31, 000. S&T Museum premises were the stage for the ‘Iftar Party’ hosted by the Muslim League Minister. Later Rs 2, 31, 000/- was handed over to a leading caterer by the S&T Museum. People are wondering the relation between Science and Technology and ‘Iftar Party’. All we can say is science is Islam and Technology is Power. The Science and Technology of being 25% of Kerala population, reminded by huge flex boards in North Kerala, We are 25%, Remember!
