Saints Pledge to Eradicate Untouchability and Casteism
Two-day Sant Sammelan in Tumakuru?
The two-day Sant Sammelan was organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad as part of its golden jubilee celebration from November 11 to 12 concluded in Tumakuru, Karnataka, with a pledge by saints to eradicate untouchability and casteism. The Sammelan passed five resolutions on various issues. In a resolution they demanded complete ban on export of meat and the Government was appealed not to issue new licence to slaughter houses. They also demanded to declare cow as ‘National Animal’ and make the country free from cow slaughtering. They stressed the need to implement Uniform Civil Code and legal measures to curb religious conversions. They also demanded withdrawal of ‘Medical Termination of Pregnancy Amendment Bill’.
Dr Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganga Math and RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat jointly inaugurated the Sammelan at Siddaganga Math. About 600 saints from various parts of the country gathered at the Sammelan. Prominent among them were Pejawar Swami Sri Vishwesh Theertha, Sri Nirmalanatha-nanda Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Math, Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji, Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living, Sri Beli Matha Swamiji , Swarnavalli Sonda Swamiji, Dr Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala, etc.
VHP general secretary Shri Champat Roy said the prime objective of the event was to discuss the issues haunting the Hindu society. Dr Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganga Matha applauded the efforts of the VHP. Sri Sri Ravishankar stressed the need to curb conversion. Due to health reasons VHP veteran Ashok Singhal could not attend the Sammelan.
RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat appealed to the saints to analyse and discuss the values of spirituality to be filled in life of each citizen of Bharat. “We need to discuss the programmes to be organised and steps to be taken to implement the values by which those misguided can be guided. This task can be done by the saints only and the RSS-VHP can support,” he said adding that “for Hindus no one is outsider. Each sect should educate everyone in their community about this wide concept. The narrow thoughts of caste should be eradicated from the minds of people. This task can be effectively be taken up by the saints.”

Sri Ram-Janaki Vivah Barat to reach Janakpur on November 25
Beginning from Ayodhya on November 17 Sri Ram-Janaki Vivah Barat will reach Sri Ram Dham Janakpur, Nepal, on November 25. Enumerating the details of the Barat VHP general secretary Sri Champat Rai said in Delhi the Vivah Barat will pass through Azamgarh, Mau, Buxer, Aara, Patna and Matiyani to enter in Nepal. VHP patron Shri Ashok Singhal would join the function in Nepal on November 27. The Barat will return on November 28 and reach Ayodhya on November 30. Shri Champat Rai said the objective of the event is to motivate the people to learn from Sri Ram how to eradicate social evils. —Bureau Report
Huge support to ‘RSS Pathsanchalan’ in TN?
It was unprecedented event in the Sangh history of Tamil Nadu when thousands of swayamsevaks, well-wishers including women and even transgenders courted arrest on November 9 in all district headquarters of Tamil Nadu as permission was denied for taking out the pathsanchalan in Sangh uniform, despite court order. In all the district headquarters the pathsanchalans were planned to mark the beginning of the celebrations of 1000th Coronation Year of King Rajendra Chola. Permission was sought from Police. As Police refused permission at 7 centres, a petition was filed in Madras High Court which directed the Police for grant of permission. Instead of denying permission, the Police laid restrictions not to use RSS uniform, not to carry any lathi/stick or any other offensive weapons and not to carry band in the procession.
But the RSS decided to defy the restrictions and proceeded with pathsanchalans as planned. As a result, the swayamsevaks and well-wishers including women courted arrest in all district headquarters aggregating a total of more than 35,000. Particularly in Chennai where the total participants was 8,000 including women and well-wishers, the enthusiasm was so high that all came out voluntarily and got arrested. Despite being a massive public programme in 36 places, the Sangh discipline was maintained fully and totally incident free. (VSK Chennai)?
Seminar to raise the issues of North-Eastern people?

Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and Samvit Kendra jointly organised a seminar in Hyderabad on November 1 to discuss the issues being faced by people of North-Eastern states. Over 200 professionals from different walks of life including academicians, IT professionals, lawyers and social activists attended the seminar. Shri Lakshmana Ravula, Director of Product Strategy and Planning, Oracle Corporation was the chief guest on the occasion.
