Intro: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has marked its sparkling victory on all four seats of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) while bagged second position in Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections for 2014-15.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student wing of RSS has clean sweeps the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections-2014 on all four seats with huge margins after an extensive period of 17 years on September 13.

The most important issue in Universities is women security. We will try to open Woman Development Cell (WDC) in every college.

—Kanika Shekhawat, Secretary-ABVP

Fighting on issues such as safe campus for girls, recognition of former B.Tech degrees of DU, Initiating student metro cards, servicing feeder bus in the campus – ABVP’s cause based politics has certainly won the confidence of the students .
Mohit Nagar of ABVP got 20, 718 votes against the candidate of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) for the post of President. Pravesh Malik won the post of Vice-President while Kanika Shekhawat triumph Secretary’s post. And, Ashutosh Mathur grabbed the highest number of votes among all the candidates to win the post of Joint Secretary with 23, 133 votes.

We will prioritise U-Special buses for the students so that it will be easy for them to commute from outskirts of Delhi.
—Mohit Nagar, President-ABVP

“Expectations of people have gone up after Modi government came to power. The ABVP fulfilled its promises of scrapping the four-year undergraduate (FYUP) programme. We won because of the Modi wave,” said Rohit Chahal, national secretary, ABVP in his statement.

The much awaited promise of establishing campus in East and West campus of Delhi University as we have for North and South campus.

—Ashutosh Mathur, Joint Secretary-ABVP

The Delhi State Secretary of ABVP, Saket Bahuguna said that, “We heartily thank the student community of Delhi University (DU) for reposing their faith on us and giving us a resounding mandate in the DUSU Elections. We will fight for re-evaluation, special chance, more colleges and more hostels this year.” Bahuguna ensures that the voice of the common students of DU will be heard by the DU administration and the governments.
“I think ABVP was the only political group that had put in efforts to bring their main party’s et in sync with theirs.” Says 20 year old Rupal Chandra, a third year student at SRCC on his support to ABVP.
“I remember it was ABVP that conducted a survey in the first week of August where almost 80 per cent students voted against the four-year undergraduate programme,” reasons 19 year old Rahul of Hansraj College on ABVP's win.
While Narendra Modi factor has again played an important role in the victory of the nationalist organisation, there was no popular face in favour of NSUI . The DUSU elections result reckon youth as aware, smart and discernible to their political choices.
Meanwhile, sudden rise in ABVP’s vote share – upto 100% , has shaken the left bastion in JNU. In the Student union poll held in sync with DUSU elections, the ideologically red campus has brought the left backed AISA again in to the power . While the ABVP did not win any of the four seats, It still did manage to remain a close second in the 2 out of 4 elected posts in the communist stronghold .
