Six terrorists residing in Bijnour for 11 months and still absconding after an accidental blast reiterates the growing concern about the Western Uttar Pradesh being a terrorist heaven.
Many districts of Western Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to Delhi, have become a heaven for terrorists. This is the place where they can reside in any locality and do their undeterred planning for any anti-national activity. This is perhaps the reason al-Qaeda chief Ayaman-al-Jawahiri is confident about reviving Jihad in Indian sub-continent with India as a target. Lapses and negligent approach of security agencies, especially the UP Police, is providing favourable conditions for Jawahiri’s call.

Another incident in Bijnour a district of Western UP has again exposed the Pakistan supported terrorism and our superficial approach in combating it. The arrest of technical head of Indian Mujahiddin Ejaj Shaikh in Saharanpur by the Special Cell of Delhi and subsequent ignorance expressed by the UP Police clearly demonstrates the lack of coordination between intelligence agencies and police machinery.
On September 12, 2014, if an accidental blast would not have taken place in the location called Jatan at some Leelawati’s Place, it would have been difficult to stop any untoward incident of terrorist act in any part of the country. The mystery of absconding SIMI terrorists, fled from Khandwa Central jail of Madhya Pradesh, would also not have been resolved. These terrorists were safely living in Bijnour after fleeing from Khandwa Jail on October 1, 2014. They were constantly in touch with their bosses and nobody had clue about their plans.
Even after the accidental blast while making bombs, they were safely roaming around in Bijnour to get treatment for an injured comrade. Their presence was captured by the CCTV camera located at the Daklkhana (post office) Chowk (square). Still, Bijnaur Police did not come into action. By the time, Rajeev Sabbarwal, IG, ATS went to the spot and took appraisal of the incident the terrorists had deserted Bijnour. This is more worrisome because by polls were due on September 12 and still accidental blast on 11th September went unattended. Many consumer goods from Pakistan recovered from the Bijnour residence of the terrorists also exposed Pakistani links behind these terrorists. —Bureau Report
