I send my cordial greeting and best wishes to “Organiser”. The paper is making its first appearance at a most momentous period in Indian history.
British rule in India will virtually cease to function within a few weeks.
The advent of freedom is however hailed with mixed feelings of joy and regret. The integrity of our motherland has been destroyed. This is a sad and tragic factor to which we cannot reconcile ourselves. This will mean a serious blow not to Hindus alone but to the cause of future peace and progress of India as a whole. We have virtually given up a portion of our sacred territory without a fight.
The Anglo-Muslim League conspiracy outmanoeuvred the Congress and the latter surrendered almost without a protest.
The question of the hour today is, will Hindus and other nationalist elements in India realize why they could not keep intact the political unity of India? If 30 crores of Hindus had remained united today, no power could have divided India and thrown nearly 20 millions of Hindus and Sikhs into an Islamic State which would be guided by barbarous and fanatical passions.
What is the remedy? We have to organise that portion of India which is now outside Pakistan so that an organic homogeneous Hindu State may triumphantly flourish within this area. No citizen of this State, no matter what his religious belief may be, need be afraid of his rights and privileges so long as he does not play the role of a fifth-columnist and identifies himself with the legitimate interests of the State.
Danger of Appeasement
There is a danger of our following a policy of appeasement and adhering of false slogans of so-called nationalism. If we cannot build up a strong and virile State backed by a powerful army and a progressive economic policy which will be of benefit to the
common man, we shall create unbridgeable barriers within the State itself and may ultimately lose a portion of this territory also. Our aim must be to re-annex Pakistan to India. I have no doubt this is bound to come whether by pressure of economic or political factors or for other reasons.
Until this happens it is the bounden duty of the State to protect in every possible manner the interests of 20 millions of Hindus and Sikhs who will live in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Government will also be anxious for the welfare of more than 30 millions of Moslems who will live within our territory. Whether mutual protection is provided for by honourable agreement or by other means, this is a responsibility which must be courageously shouldered both by the Government and the people.
Message of Unity
I have never understood why a Hindu should feel hesitant to call himself a Hindu. It is want of race-consciousness amongst ourselves which has led to the vivisection of India. No barrier of any kind must be allowed to prevent the consolidation of the entire Hindu race both socially and politically.
This message of unity must reach every hearth and home as quickly as possible. Only on such a strong and virile foundation can the structure of the future State be worthily built.
I hope and trust that “Organiser” will carry on its campaign in an undaunted manner so as to help in the emergence of a new and proud era leading to peace, progress and freedom of 400 million people inhabiting this great and beloved motherland of ours.??
