VHP to organise 100 Sanskrit training camps
Bharat Sanskrit Parishad organised Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrit training camp at Champa Devi Saraswati Bal Mandir, Delhi from 10th to 20th of June. A total of 80 Sanskrit trainers from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Uttarakhand underwent training at the camp. Apart from imparting training of spoken Sanskrit, the training of Vedic Mathamatics, Ayur Veda, astrology, journalism, yoga, music etc. was also imparted. Some teams for organising Sanskrit Sambhashan camps at State level, Sanskrit Parivar Nirman and Bhajan Sandhya were also constituted. The trainees were addressed by the VHP president Dr Pravin Togadia, organising secretary Shri Dinesh Chandra, editor of Panchjanya Shri Hitesh Shankar, former vice chancellor of Lalbahadur Shastri Vidyapeeth Prof Pandey, etc. Dr Togadia gave a target of organising at least 100 Sanskrit camps across the country during the golden jubilee year of the VHP. VHP general secretary Shri Champatrai stressed the need to generate a favourable atmosphere all over the country. Shri Radhakrishan Manodi, general secretary of Bharat Sanskrti Parishad stressed the need to connect Sanskrit with employment. n

Indian concept of nation assimilates everyone —Dr Krishna Gopal
“The concept of nation in India was not born in 1947. It was developed through the ages and it assimilates everyone. All from Buddha to Kabir and Shankar Dev to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu kept this concept alive and going. There is a need to understand that the concept of nation for India is not a political concept rather spiritual,” said RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal. He was speaking at a seminar organised in Delhi on 75th death anniversary of RSS founder Dr Hedgewar on June 21. Organised by India Policy Foundation, the topic of the seminar was Dr Hedgewar and Indian Nationalism. IPF chairman Prof Kapil Kapur, director Dr Rakesh Sinha and historian Dr Saradindu Mukherjee were also present on the occasion.
Dr Krishna Gopal further said that the concept of nation for India is entirely different from that of the West. There are certain factors that make a nation in the West that might be state, religion, economic issues, tribal identity or certain other things but for India the concept of nation is to assimilate everyone. He said Dr Hedgewar started nothing new, he just continued age-old Indian tradition. Vivekananda and Aurabindo were also doing the same. Going by that definition the concept of Hindu Rashtra is the basic concept of Nation in the country, he added.
Dr Rakesh Sinha said the modern historians especially the Left and Nehruvian have done a great damage to the history of India. The role of RSS in the national movement was completely ignored and deliberately swept under the carpet. He talked about 109 such files in which lots of information about the RSS was available being missing or destroyed. They could have told the real role of the RSS. This is a criminal injustice not only to the nation but also to the RSS. He said the system of history writing in our country is faulty. With certain facts in your hand you interpret it and with those facts and interpretation, perception is made. But the Left historians have done it other way round and they made perception first and then interpreted accordingly and while doing so facts are suppressed.
Dr Saradindu Mukherjee informed the gathering that corporate history writing has done a great damage to the nation and the history itself. Professor Kapil Kapoor proposed a vote of thanks. —Bureau Report
RSS leaders felicitate Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai
A delegation of senior RSS leaders of Mangalore Vibhag on June 23 felicitated veteran Kannada scholar, freedom fighter and poet Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai at his residence at Badiadka, Kasaragod. The veteran scholar has turned 100 on June 8. The delegation included Dr Satish Rao, Mangalore Mahanagar Sanghachalak; Shri Gopal Chettiyar, Kshetra Sewa Pramukh; Shri Ravindra Rai, Mangalore Vibhag Samparka Pramukh; Shri Harsh Vardhan, Mangalore Mahanagar Sampark Pramukh; Shri Dinesh Madappura, RSS Kasaragod Sanghachalak; senior RSS functionaries of Mangalore Shri Jayaprakash Hegde and Shri CP Kamat.
Dr Kayyar Kinhanna Rai is a freedom fighter activist, author, poet and former journalist. He started his career as a secondary school teacher. He also delved into journalism and contributed his writings to newspapers like Swabhimana, Madras Mail and the Hindu. He received National Award for Best Teacher in 1969. He is a writer-cum-poet and has written books on theatre, grammar and children. He was conferred an honorary doctorate by Mangalore University in 2005. n
A high level delegation of the Akhil Bharatiya Anganwadi Karmachari Mahasangh, affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, met Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi in Delhi on June 12. The delegation submitted her a memorandum highlighting seven demands. They said the ICDS, which is working as a project since 39 years should be declared as a department and the workers serving in this department be declared State government employees. Those Anganwadi workers who have retired after long period of service should be granted pension and retirement benefits. There should be a provision for promotion and all the observers should be selected from the workers only. They also demanded ban on the entry of voluntary organisations in the ICDS.

Senior Pracharak Ramprakash Dhir passes away in Yangon
Senior Pracharak in Vishwa Vibhag, Ramprakash Dhir passed away in Yangon, Myanmar on June 20. He was 88. He was admitted to Yangon General Hospital on complaints of cough and sleeplessness a day before. He breathed his last due to heart and lung infection. The cremation was held on June 21 at the Hindu Cemetery, Yeway, Yangon.
Born at Monywa (Upper Burma) on November 16, 1926, his father was a reputed businessman and government contractor of Burma. After studying up to 9th standard at Wesley Missionary School at Monywa, he shifted to Bharat along with his parents in 1942. In August 1942, he completed his matriculation from Burma and in 1943 also did the matriculation from Punjab University. He completed his graduation in Arts with Burmese as an optional subject from Punjab University in 1947.
During college days in Jalandhar during 1942, he came in contact with RSS and became a Pracharak in 1947-48. He visited Burma briefly in 1948 and then again returned in 1956 at the behest of Dr Mangal Senji for the work of Sanatan Dharma Swayamsevak Sangh (SDSS, then Bharatiya Swayamsevak Sangh) which he continued to do till his last breath.
Dhirji was considered to be the doyen of Sangh work in Myanmar as he was instrumental in inspiring countless youngsters to join and work for Sangh, spreading Shakha network and other activities viz establishing hostels like Sewa Ashram at Kyauktaga, preparing and disseminating religious and language education via Hindu Dharma Shiksha Samiti etc. Almost all the karyakartas and Pracharaks of SDSS have been inspired and initiated in the Sangh by Dhirji. He was also looking after Thailand unit of the RSS as a Pracharak for a brief period.
His pioneering efforts in organising Buddha exhibition which traced the origin and spread of Bhagwan Buddha and Buddhism were widely appreciated by Bhikkhus.
