Unconditional Love
Children this story is of an eraser and a pencil.The pencil commits mistakes but the eraser without any noise silently erases those mistakes.Every time the pencil commits mistakes it says sorry to the eraser. “Why do you say sorry to me.You have not done any thing wrong,” said eraser to the pencil. “ I am sorry because I hurt you. Whenever I make a mistake, you’re always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself and get smaller each time,” said the pencil. “That’s true, but I really don’t mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day I know I’ll be gone, I’m actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying about me. I hate seeing you sad”,said the eraser to the pencil.
The conversation between the pencil and the eraser is very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. Parents are always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass away. Though their children also find someone new (spouse), but parents are happy with what they do for their children, and will hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.
Children, we are all pencils. And it pains us to see the eraser that is our parents getting older as we grow. For we know that one day, all that we will be left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what we used to have.
So, what does this story explains us? This story gives us a strong insight about our relationship with our parents.We should not forget that our parents have sacrificed their lives for us and our well-being without thinking about themselves.They didn't expect anything in return from us. Unconditional love comes silently. We should not miss it. We learn this lesson only from our parents.
