Originally from Gaya in Bihar, Dinanath Mishra moved with his family to Delhi in 1967. He was Member of Parliament from 1998 to 2004. He started his career as a journalist and served as editor of Panchajanya from 1971 to 1974. Later, he worked as editor of Navbharat Times.
Condoling his death, BJP President Rajnath Singh described his death as a personal loss to him. “As an MP, Dinanath Mishra served the people as an honest and hardworking public servant. Till his last breath, he provided fresh energy to journalism through his writings,” Singh said, adding that Mishra was a thinker, intellectual and a dedicated party worker.
“Felicitated with many awards, Pt Dinanath Mishra was a thinker, scholar and a dedicated party worker. His contribution in policy making and also creating literature for the party has been noteworthy. It will be difficult to fill the void developed with his departure,” Shri Rajnath Singh added.
