RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat met leading Jain Muni Shri Tarun Sagarji Maharaj of Digambar sect in Jaipur on August 7. On August 6, he met Acharya Mahashramanji, the supreme head of Jain Shwetambar Terapanth sect, at Ladnu under Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Shri Bhagwat discussed a long range of social and political issues with both great personalities.
Shri Tarun Sagarji Maharaj, who is known for his unconventional contents in his discourses and movement against export of meat and leather, called RSS a nationalist and disciplined organisation. He claimed that it was following his persuasion that RSS dropped the leather belt and leather shoes from its dress code for its activists.
Speaking on ‘politics and morality’ at Jain Vishwa Bharati in Ladnu on August 6 in the presence of Terapanth Acharya Mahashraman, Shri Bhagwat said morality cannot be achieved by just delivering speeches. It needs generation of faith through personal conduct. This is the age old method of achieving morality and all the great saints followed it. It is also necessary to make Bharat a strong nation in the world.
Shri Bhagwat said one mostly realises the need of morality in adverse situations. Atmiyata (oneness) is the foundation of morality and ego, selfish and greedy thinking is enemies of it. But when we think and act for the welfare of all, rising above self-interests, we achieve moral strength.
He said just talking about morality is not enough, we need to create examples, and such examples can be created only by walking against the normal flow. “We need to make the people who have high moral strength. Though, we do not lack such examples. There have been many great personalities but the problem is that the people do not want to follow their footsteps for long. Therefore, not only in politics but also in different walks of social life, we need to restore the moral ideals. Only then we shall be able to lead the world for real happiness and prosperity. We also need to bring good people with us. All the good people are working with the same goals—the goal of welfare of all,” he said.
About politics, Shri Bhagwat said morality is not a big problem, as there are many good people in all political parties. There could be different ideologies and they may oppose each other, but they are genuine people who work for the welfare of all. Therefore, I can clearly visualise that the day is approaching when the whole system will be on right track and people thinking for the welfare of all will dominate, he added.
The Sarsanghachalak called upon the people to be an example of morality and lead the society in right direction. If the society takes a decision, all the institutions created by it, will have to follow them. Then no institution would ignore the social pressure. The work of arousing such feeling in the society is done by the saints and the RSS too is doing it for the last more than eight decades.
Acharya Mahashraman spoke on interdependence of politics and morality. He said the people in politics should think for welfare of all and there should be no discrimination. Describing politics as an important sector, he said there should be good and deserving people in politics.
Kshetra Pracharak Shri Durgadas, Prant Pracharak Shri Murlidhar, Prant Sanghachalak Shri Lalit Sharma, Sah Prant Pracharak Shri Rajaram, Zilla Sanghachalak Shri Narayan Prasad and Vibhag Pracharak Shri Ishwarji were also present on the occasion.
