Two hostels, two medical centres and foodgrain distribution begins among villagers
Ravindra Saini from Dehradun
As per the decisions taken in the presence of RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi in Dehradun on June 18-19, two hostels for students have been started in Dehradun and Guptkashi, the most affected parts of Uttarakhand. There are about ten children in Dehradun hostel, while in Guptkashi hostel 11 children have been accommodated. RSS Uttarakhand Prant Karyavah Shri Lakshmi Prasad Jaiswal told Organiser that more needy children are being searched and there are efforts that no child of the affected areas would face any difficulty in study, etc. Priority is being given to education of the children and students from primary level to higher education including their boarding and lodging at different centres.
Apart from it, two medical centres have been started at two different places with primary level of medical facilities. “The third major decision taken during the meeting with Bhaiyaji was about distribution of foodgrains to the affected villagers. The work on it has also begun and foodgrains are being distributed among the villagers of Kedar Valley and Uttarkashi,” Shri Jaiswal added. The families without male earning member, till their settlement, would be provided at least ration regularly.
It is to be noted that during his visit to Dehradun on June 18 RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi had unveiled a two-phased reconstruction programme in disaster hit areas of Uttarakhand. All these activities are being carried out under the banner of Uttaranchal Daivi Aapda Peedit Sahayata Samiti.
An appropriate monetary help will also be rendered to those who need for the marriage of their marriageable girls, and also for repair of houses or promoting their business too. Keeping in view the threat of future devastation, which may occur in coming days of peak rainy season, the stock of rations and other daily needs will be stored at different places in the hilly areas so that immediate relief maybe provided in case of sudden eventuality.
The construction of houses, religious places, educational institutions and commercial complexes will be undertaken in the second phase after September when the rainy season ends and the conveyance and transportation facilities are restored. A steering committee, comprising of all the participating organisations representative and the RSS activists have been formed with 15 members who will further undertake the rehabilitation programme under the convenorship of Shri Sunil Kumar, Sahprant Sewa Pramukh.
