undefined(Organiser, 28.7.2013);  I am very much impressed by the way Organiser  has projected Shri Narendra Modi on its front page. I also appreciate the statement of Shri Modi which he gave to Reuters News Agency, that, “I am nationalist . I’m patriotic. Nothing  is wrong. I am born Hindu. Nothing is wrong. So, I’m a Hindu nationalist. So yes, you can say I’m a Hindu nationalist because I’m a born Hindu.” Shri Narendra Modi can  only instill in us the pride of our origin and religion. He is a self-made man, without family boundings, a rarity in a country where dynastic rule is the order of the day both at the Centre and now spreading to the states too. A no nonsense leader who can din  into our heads what  patriotism means. Hope  our voters will act wisely in 2014 general elections for this is the  last chance to take Bharat in the right direction and  completely wipe out the Congress which has become synonymous with corruption.

SHANTA DYUTHIKAR,  Malleshwaram, Bengaluru

Articles on economy in Organiser (14.7.2013);  This refers to two articles ‘Sinking Rupee and Disillusioned Government’ by Dr Ashwani Mahajan, and ‘Indian Economy in a tailspin: The way out’ by  Dr Subramanian Swamy in Organiser. They have discussed the problem in detail and suggested many good  points to check the fall of Indian rupee. There are few points which I feel must be followed, while dealing with foreign countries in the matter of trade, and investments. We must not import unnecessary items like cosmetics, toys, luxury goods, fancy items and processed food items, etc. We should import only those items, which we cannot produce. At present India is importing all type of junk and unnecessary items from China and other countries. One item—Petroleum, is being consumed and being imported in a large quantity. Why  can’t we plan the things so as to reduce consumption of petrol and diesel? We should export finished goods, rather than raw material to boost and develop our own industries. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) should be restricted only in those areas, where high technology is involved, or in defence goods. It is strange that FDI is being  invited for Banking and Insurance.

Indians have a warped sense of secularism (Organiser 14.7.2013); Shri MV Kamath has  presented a masterly analysis on secularism in India in his article ‘Indians have a warped sense of secularism’ in Organiser. He begins with Nitish Kumar who proudly wears a skull cap to proclaim his secularism to beg for Muslim votes, not minding the indifference  he thereby shows, to his late leader, Ram Manohar Lohia to 1947, when the word secular had a special meaning in the context of the agitation for Pakistan. He rightly says, “ The worst enemies of Hinduism and Hindutva are not non-Hindus but a segment of Hindus who take a special pride in damning Hinduism to win praise from non Hindus.” Unfortunately  the father of this run down Hinduism in the political context was none other than Jawaharlal Nehru, of whom we are enthusiastic admirers. This  great English Pandit was personally contemptuous of  anything and everything ‘Hindu’ as irrational and unscientific. Shri Kamath quotes David Frawley a great scholar on Hinduism, “A defeatist tendency exists in the psyche of modern Indians (Hindus) perhaps unparalleled in any other country.” Do Hindus want to pull down their own country? If so why? Does any other country have a foreign lady as its top most leader and her half Italian and half Indian son waiting to become Prime Minister? God save our country!

Why Congress always target Hindus? Congressmen are opposing the inclusion of a chapter from Bhagwad Gita which is prescribed in the school curriculum for the students in Madhya Pradesh. They need to be reminded of the Apex Court’s verdict delivered a couple of decades ago. At that time it was the same Congress Party which had challenged the election of the then Maharashtra Chief Minister on the grounds of his Hindutva background being used in the Assembly elections. That time the learned judges, while upholding the election, had said that Hindutva is a way of life and not a religion. Secondly, would these secularists object to the compulsory teaching of Holy books of minorities to the Hindu students in primary schools run by minority institutions.

Telegrams to discontinue I am disappointed at the decision of the Department of Telecommunication to
discontinue the services of Telegrams, due to drastic fall in the percentage of people availing this service. But we should not forget that though science and technology has taken a long stride in inventing and putting into operation electronic devices like fax, e-mail, SMS, etc. but still the specific benefits of telegram cannot be replaced by them. Eradicating it totally does not sound good.

The core of internal security (Organiser, 21.7.2013) This refers to Shri Joginder Singh’s article in Organiser. The tragedy of this nation is that the media and people like Digvijay, Manish Tiwari, Lalu, Mulayam and Nitish Kumar are indifferent to the  terror attacks, but are very concerned over the killing of a terrorist Ishrat Jahan. Certain politicians are not even ashamed to give a clean chit to the terrorists killed at Batla House in Delhi, but not a word for a brave policeman who lost his life. Mulayam, is not hesitant to declare compensation for the terrorists killed in the action but is ashamed to attend the funeral of our soldiers killed in the line of action in Kashmir at the hand of terrorists.
