Dhrana at Jantar Mantar by Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha
RASHTRIYA Sainik Sanstha appealed to the President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee to make Jai Hind, a compulsory mode of mutual greeting at public places. The organisation sent a memorandum to Shri Mukherjee to this effect on March 15. The memorandum was also signed by former Election Commissioner Dr GVG Krishnamurty.
Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha also organised a day long dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for pressing upon this demand. The Sanstha said the provision does not require any budget or amendment to the Constitution.
Patron of the Sanstha Dr Krishnamurty said no purpose would be served by the television leaders who are growing popular tree for immediate results. We need Peepal tree which takes time but gives out oxygen round the clock. This can be achieved by ‘Jai Hind’ alone since character building and unification of the country are implicit in it. Dr Krishnamurty cited the examples of Russia, Nepal, France and many other countries where they do not greet each other with Good Morning but say their national slogan. “In India, if we can have a National Anthem, National River, National Language, National Flower, National Animal, National Tree, National Fruit, National Bird, National Flag, National Game, then why can’t we have a National Greeting,” quipped Dr Krishnamurty”.
Col (retd) Tejandra Pal Tyagi, national president of the Sanstha, said the country is divided on every issue; we are not one on even one point. Then how nationalism would come in our blood. To revive the patriotism and with a view of keeping united this fast disintegrating country, it is mandatory that we should make jai of the nation or “Jai Hind” as compulsory mode of felicitation in all public places.
The ‘Jai Hind’ revolution began from Ghaziabad on March 2, 2003 wherein serving generals and retired generals took an oath under the aegis of Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha to say Jai Hind instead of Good Morning, Namaste, Sat Sree Akal or Adab in all the mutual felicitations. As a sequel, ‘Jai Hind’ was made compulsory in Indian Army on September 25, 2012, vide their letter no. B/42120/AG/CW-1.
Other speakers also said as we put Ganga water into the mouth of a dying man, let us collectively , compulsorily and religiously say ‘Jai Hind’ in all schools, colleges, business enterprises, factory establishments, parliament and the legislatures to keep the fast disintegrating country united.
