WHOM are you talking to?, where are you going?, are some of the irritating questions asked by elders. As time passes a child becomes an adult then a married man and then a parent. Till the time all these processes take place a whole generation is changed and a new generation emerges. Rightly, known as the generation gap sometimes makes a child comfortable while sometimes is annoying.
Things, people, tastes, culture as well as behaviour changes with time.
The change of time, the coming up of new technology, modernisation all have collectively increased the generation gap. Gen X nowadays is too fast and believes in enjoying without thinking about its dangers. We prefer eating golgappas, going to midnight parties, wear branded clothes and chit-chatting with the loved ones. While parents think before acting. As they are more experienced they know all the pros and cons and the effect of present activities on the child. They are right when they think unnecessary shopping causes wastage of money.
Mingling up of boys and girls is always seen as an offensive act just because they too have gone through the same state of mind and want to protect their child from its bad effects.
I personally don’t believe in a ‘GAP’ between a child and a parent though there are times when my thoughts are just the opposite from that of the elders. Thinking before acting always earns good but going with fashion or being presentable is today’s need. Thus to be happy and prosperous in life we should choose the midway and work on things as is required.
