THE 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is to begin from January 13 all over the world. In order to ensure the involvement of maximum number of youth, women, intellectuals, villagers and Vanvasis, different kinds of activities have been planned. The women in this celebration will be mobilised under the banner of ‘Samvardhini’. A two day all India meeting of Samvardhini was organised in Nagpur from December 15 to 16. A total of 91 women from different Prants participated in the meeting. Former Pramukh Sanchalika of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Pramilatai Medhe, Akhil Bharatiya Mahila Samanvya Pramukh Geeta Tai Gunde, national convener of Samvardhini Alkatai Majumdar, vice president of Vivekananda Kendra Sushri Nivedita Bhide and senior Sangh Pracharak Shri Madhubhai Kulkarni were also present.
The meeting discussed at length four kinds of activities to be held throughout the year—special camps for young girls, women conventions, women intellectual seminars and young couple conventions. The women conferences will be organised from October 15 to 31. As far as camps for young girls are concerned, there are planning, to organise at least 1,500 camps all over the country. The camps will be from seven hours to two-day duration. The objective of all the activities is to spread the message of Swami Vivekananda among different sections of the society.
