SLAMMING the poor socio-economic policies and strategies of major political parties on FDI, the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) has decided to launch a nationwide campaign against FDI and the related issues.
Speaking to a gathering in Bengaluru on December 11, SJM national organising secretary Shri Kashmiri Lal said the entry of WalMart would be an economic invasion on India. He said the proposed FDI would adversely harm the middle and lower middle class economy and grossly the retail business sector. He said the FDI would neither benefit our economy nor would help the Indians on job empowerment, “Hence the SJM opposes the FDI and demands the government to withdraw this decision.”
Shri Kashmiri Lal said the SJM would take four major issues to debate at national level. First is the FDI in retail and in insurance. Second, to review the Bill on clinical trials, which treats human as guinea pigs, as an experimental tool through unethical and illegal practices. Third, an immediate discussion on three pending Bills on agricultural reforms, land acquisition and seed Bill. Fourth, the environmental issues like increased pollution of major rivers including Ganga, the improper dumping of e-waste. (FOC)
