$img_title“Any attempt to compromise on Kashmir and put the clock back to pre-1953 will invite a mass movement on the same pattern as was led by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee in early fifties,” warns veteran BJP leader Shri LK Advani while speaking at 111th birth anniversary of Dr Mookerjee in New Delhi on July 9. The function was organised by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, a think tank of the BJP. Former High Commissioner to Pakistan Shri G Parthasarathy, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Tarun Vijay, trustee of the Foundation Shri Arun Singh and Delhi BJP president Shri Vijendra Gupta were also present on the occasion.

Shri Advani further said what the three interlocutors’ report has suggested, is against national interest, so much so that for the first time they have used the word Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK)  instead of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), which is against Constitution and hurts the Indian position. He said this report should be completely rejected. On this occasion, Smt Manju Mookerji, was felicitated by BJP President Shri Nitin Gadkari and Shri LK Advani.

$img_titleRecalling the supreme sacrifice made by Dr Mookerjee for Kashmir’s complete integration with India Shri Advani felicitated the Smt Manju Mookerji granddaughter of the legendary statesman. He said, it’s a great occasion that Syama Prasad’s granddaughter, herself a social activist in Pune, working for the poor and the downtrodden, is here to share her memories about her grandfather. While speaking about Dr Mookerjee, Shri Advani became emotional and tears rolled out of his eyes.

Shri Tarun Vijay, Director of the Foundation, said the couple, Smt Manju Mookerji and her husband Shri Biman Mookerji, has lived the ideals of their grandfather, who is the source of inspiration to all workers of the BJP. The daughter of Dr Syama Prasad, Smt Savita Mookerjee, lived with her daughter Smt Manju Mookerji and donated her entire household property to the local NGOs working for the poor and downtrodden. She had also donated her eyes to a local eye bank. Smt Manju Mookerjee with her husband Shri Biman Mookerji live in Pune and have devoted their time for the social good, helping poor and disabled of the city.

Prior to the function in the morning, Dr Mookerjee’s family along with daughter-in-law Smt Priyanka Mookerjee, were invited on a tea by BJP president Shri Nitin Gadkari and his wife Smt Kanchan Gadkari at their New Delhi residence. Shri Gadkari praised the noble legacy of Dr Mookerjee being carried forward by her granddaughter and gave them a vivid detail about his socio-economic projects in Vidarbha. He also presented them Kosa sarees, weaved by women artisans working in the cooperative handloom sector, promoted by him.
