Redesigned websites of Organiser and Panchjanya launched
Use web media to reach millions of people worldwide—Suresh Soni
“RSS has been a victim of malign campaigns since its inception. In the beginning, it was through radio; then it came in the form of print media. Now it is prominently through television channels and tomorrow it may be through web media. We, however, are not worried over any baseless campaigns, we feel the misleading propaganda confuses some people. The misconception continues till the affected persons do not see the RSS from close quarters. There is a need to use different media tools to bridge the gap created between the ‘reality’ and the ‘image’ of RSS. In this way, the redesigning of Organiser and Panchjanya websites has greater significance,” said RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Suresh Soni, while launching the redesigned websites of both the newspapers in New Delhi on September 29.
Both the websites, www.organiser.org and www.panchjanya.com, have been redesigned by Nagpur based Bharati Web Pvt. Ltd. Apart from RSS National Executive Member Shri Ram Madhav, Organiser editor Dr R Balashankar and Panchjanya editor Shri Baldevbhai Sharma, RSS Delhi Prant Sahsanghachalak Dr Shyam Sunder Agrawal and Managing Director of Bharat Prakashan (Delhi) Ltd, Shri Vijay Kumar were also present on the occasion.
Prior to the website launching, Annual General Meeting of Bharat Prakashan was held. The meeting was attended by majority of the shareholders and members of Bharat Prakashan Board of Directors including Shri Ramphal Bansal, Shri Biharilal Singhal, Shri Alok Kumar, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Shri Anil Gupta, etc.
Appreciating the growing reach of different journals published by Sangh workers in different languages all over the country, Shri Suresh Soni said the RSS today has effective reach among two lakh villages and it is expected to increase manifold in coming days. “Some of our journals publish lakhs of copies. It proves if the work is done systematically, it definitely leaves good impact. Malign campaigns do not sustain longer. They have very limited span. What is needed is effective strategy and firm determination,” he said. Commenting on the growing commercial mentality in the media today, he said the media is now a ‘profession’ and not a ‘mission’ as it used to be some decades back. That is why it does not have the impact today, as it used to have during the freedom struggle, he added.
“There is a need to create positive change using new tools and available technology. We should not hesitate to change the equipments as per the changing needs. The dedicated community that we have world over is not with other ideologies. But we have to provide them information according to their taste and interest,” he said.
He further said: “We all want that India should become a superpower. But the question is, are we ready to play that role and face the new challenge? Apart from taking other necessary steps, we have to register our strong presence in the web media also, as it is going to become an effective medium of social change in coming days.”
Prior to the launching of the redesigned websites, senior Sangh Pracharak Shri Milind Oak, who played a key role in redesigning both the websites, said compare to Organiser the reach of Panchjanya was limited in the old format. But now the whole content of Panchjanya has been converted into ‘Unicode Font’ which is accepted by all search engines world over. There are efforts to provide old text of last ten years too in the Unicode font.
Talking about the Organiser website, Shri Oak said it had become the only authentic voice for the outsiders to know about our ideology. Citing the worldwide ranking, recorded by alexa.com, the agency that records web rating worldwide, he pointed out that the web ratings of Organiser are equal to the web rating of Tehlaka.com, though we have not done any kind of marketing, whereas all other publications spent crores of rupees on familarising their web magazines. He said the text of both the weeklies will be available in e-paper format. Talking about the dedicated readers that the Sangh publications have worldwide he said in the coming few years we can have a list of over five lakh dedicated readers whom we can contact within seconds.
Referring to the growing trend of web media among youth, Shri Oak said today majority of the newspapers have dedicated staff for their web editions and they give equal importance to the web editions as their print editions. “Systematic use of the new technology always has good impact. We have seen it in the case of Tarun Bharat, website, which was redesigned a few months back. The number of its website readers increased manifold since then. Encouraged with the experiment of Tarun Bharat, now the websites of Organiser and Panchjanya have been redesigned. We hope encouraging response for these websites too,” he added.
