AKHIL Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram celebrated World Environment Day on June 5 with a difference. It organised a function at Surya Niketan, Randha, (Dadra Nagar Haveli) premises to worship the trees. Many people belonging to Vanvasi villages and also from several cities like Selvas, Naroli, Daman, Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan etc., participated in the function. Speaking at the function Kalyan Ashram president Shri Jagdevrao Oraon said protection of trees is an integral part of Hindu culture since centuries and it is due to the change in traditions that man has become enemy of the nature today. He said revival of several old traditions is must for restoring natural balance.

Rajya Sabha MP Shri Tarun Vijay said he does not support the model of development which makes the Vanvasis labourers. CEO of District Panchayat Shri Chandrasekhar assured full cooperation to Kalyan Ashram activities. Kalyan Ashram joint general secretary Shri Kripa Prasad Singh, MP Shri Natubhai Patel, Vice Chairman of District Panchayat Shri Jitubhai Madha and many other senior people were present on the occasion.
