WRITTEN by a former English examiner, the book aims to provide a good working knowledge of English to both teachers and students of the English language. It defines a standard for learning and explains why some examinees get higher or lower marks or grades. The book is expected to help readers in correct usage of articles, pronouns, prepositions and discourse markers.

According to IELTS, a good speaker of English does not speak rapidly, but “has no or few false starts, hesitations for words and sentences and no or few self-corrections in grammar or vocabulary.” He is able to produce all sounds and stresses in words and sentences correctly. It also describes and discusses the difficulties faced by students, teachers and testers who use English as their second language.

So IELTS teaches you grammar, synonyms, idioms, inflexions, derivatives, sentence construction and all that is needed in daily life. It identifies the needs of examinees and meets their needs. It is illustrated with examples and each section has exercises with answers so that the examinee can learn and check his work on his own.
