ABVP activists lathi charged on Madani issue

AS many as 12 ABVP activists were injured during a march taken out by them demanding ban on PFI, NDF, PDP and arrest of PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani on August 11. The police lathi charged, used water cannons and tear gas shells to disperse the protestors. Many ABVP activists including state joint secretaries K Ganesh and KK Manoj, national committee member Aneesh Kumar and state committee members Bineesh and Pradeep were admitted to Medical College Hospital. About 15 ABVP activists were arrested in this connection. A few of them were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. Meanwhile, ABVP state secretary GM Mahesh called for a statewide education strike on August 12 in protest against the ‘police atrocities.’ (FOC)
