I received a message from the editorial of a newspaper and I was absolutely bowled over with the message: Julia Turns Hindu. Julia Roberts, the 42 year old highest paid Hollywood actress has converted herself to Hinduism while she was in Pataudi of Haryana last year for making a film Eat, Pray and Love.

The adorable lady, Julia Roberts lately admitted that she got attracted to Hinduism after keeping her eyes on the image of Hindu Guru ‘Neem Karoli Baba’ who was the devotee of Hanuman. Karoli Baba died in 1973. In an interview with anchor George Stephanopoulos for the news programme Good Morning America on ABC News on August 9, Julia Roberts said her interest in Hinduism “came from seeing a picture of a guru called Neem Karoli Baba and I was so drawn to this picture of this person and I did not know who he was or what he was about but felt a very strong interest.”

The Oscar winning Hollywood actress is the first Hollywood luminary to embrace Hinduism. Roberts said she practiced Hinduism with adding the utterance “Hinduism is something I am very intrigued by and very interested in”. Julia often visits temples to hymn, pray and venerate. She also added “Golly, I’ve been so spoiled with my friends and family in this life,” added Roberts. “Next time I want to be just something quiet and supporting.”

Julia Fiona Roberts was born in October 28, 1967 in Smyrna, Georgia in Atlanta. She never dreamed that she would become the most popular actress in America. As a teen, due to her love of animals, Julia originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but later studied journalism. When her brother, Eric Roberts, achieved some triumphs in Hollywood, Julia then determined herself to try acting. Her first break came in 1988 when she appeared in two youth oriented movies Mystic Pizza (1988) and Satisfaction (1988). The movies introduced her to a new audience who instantly fell in love with this pretty woman. Julia has also become involved with UNICEF charities and has made visits too many different countries, including Haiti and India, in order to promote goodwill. Julia is one of the most popular and sought-after talents in Hollywood.

And at last, Julia makes us proud. I congratulate her on this sort of lofty thought and her dynamic support on the road to Hinduism.
