SENIOR pracharak and central secretary of VHP Ramphal Singh passed away in New Delhi on June 9. He was 76. He was suffering from liver ailment and was admitted in the Agrasen hospital for some time.

RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, who was in the Sangh Shiksha Varga of Delhi, rushed to VHP office to pay tribute to the departed soul. VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal, senior Pracharak Shri Giriraj Kishor, senior Sangh Pracharak Shri Suryakrishna, Shri Shankarrao Tatvavadi of Vishwa Vibhag, joint secretary general of VHP Shri Champat Rai, vice president of VHP Shri Omprakash Singhal, central secretary Shri Mohan Joshi, national convener of Bajrang Dal Shri Prakash Sharma and many others also paid tribute to the departed soul. His body was taken to his ancestral village Mau Maichak near Amroha for cremation.

Born in 1934 at Mau Maichak village under Moradabad district of Western Uttar Pradesh Ramphalji came in the contact of senior Pracharak Shri Ashok Singhal in his student life. He became a Sangh swayamsevak after completing his studies and then joined the teaching profession. After some time, he became a full time Sangh Pracharak and expanded the Sangh work in Saharanpur, Roorkie, Barabanki, Baharaich, Farruqabad and Kanpur regions. He then worked as Sambhag Pracharak in Himachal Pradesh for six years. He became the organising secretary of VHP in Madhyanchal (Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh) in 1991 and then became its central secretary. He conducted deep research and proved that untouchablity was the outcome of Mughal period. He wrote many research-based books highlighting this aspect. Some of his books include Adivasi ya Janjati nahin yeh hain madhyakalin swatantrata senani, Siddha sant Guru Ravidas, Prakhar Rashtrabhakta Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Samarasata ke Sutra, ghar ke darvaje band kyon, somnath se Ayodhya-Mathura-Kashi, madhyakalin dharmayoddha, etc.

Paying tribute VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal said the demise of Ramphalji is a major loss for the VHP. He said though the work of conducting research on Scheduled Castes would adversely get affected due to his passing away but the VHP would not let the work remain unfinished.
