Written by an engineer-cum-IAS officer, this is a motivational book in which the author narrates anecdotes from his life or from the lives of those who are close to him to show how he draws inspiration from them for self-development.

Life is not a straight line. Neither is it a bed of roses. Whatever happens in life at any point of time has a deep meaning and design behind it. A person too engrossed in life may not realise the importance of these incidents but to a reflective mind, they convey a deep message whose understanding can help in bringing improvement in life.

The author narrates anecdotes which show excellence, truthfulness, sense of purpose, efficiency, concern, cleanliness, sincerity and other good qualities. In an incident from his life, the author tells the story of a cobbler he visits to get his chappal repaired, in Delhi. Thinking it would cost as much as five rupees, he decides to find out the reaction of the cobbler. He takes out a two-rupee coin and gives it to the cobbler, who returns one rupee. With his head bent he returns to repairing another pair of shoes lying in front of him. The author takes the coin silently and returns home, paying him a silent tribute.

On reading this book, one draws the conclusion that no matter how much one wishes, there is no control over the events of life and one has to face them as they come. A positive person accepts these and grows wiser in the process, while a negative person experiences the reverse.
