“The way our rishis lived the selfless and dedicated life since centuries, the farmers too live a dedicated life for people. It is very unfortunate that industries are being set up over the highly fertile agriculture land despite strong opposition of the farmers. It is an insult of the farmers. Only an insensitive government can do it. Fact is that insult of farmers is insult of the very culture of the nation,” said Pramukh Sanchalika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti Smt Pramilatai Medhe. She was addressing a gathering of over 7000 women of national capital Delhi on October 25. Since it is the birth centenary year of second Pramukh Sanchalika of the Samiti, Saraswatitai Apte, Delhi Prant of the Samiti had organised this function to commemorate the occasion and also to pay tribute to Taiji.

Convenor of Senior Citizens Kesari Club Smt Kiran Chopra presided over the function while Sadhvi Maitreyi of Mangalore Ashram, Haridwar, was the chief guest. Smt Satvinder Kaur, Sadhvi Varunaji, Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh of the Samiti Smt Rekha Raje, Akhil Bharatiya Sahkaryavahika Smt Asha Sharma and granddaughter of Tai Apte, Smt Saroj, were also present on the occasion. Three exhibitions highlighting the life and work of Vandaniya Tai Apte and Krishnadev Raya as well as the Vishwa Mangal Gou Gram Yatra were also organised at the venue. More than 200 Sevikas also displayed the ghosh at the function.

Addressing the gathering Pramilatai Medhe appealed to the women to fill the life of their families with patriotic atmosphere. She said many types of challenges in the form of economic, educational and cultural onslaughts are posing grave threat to the nation and the country should unite to face them forgetting their differences. Talking about the glorious scientific and religious traditions of the country she stressed the need that scientific and spiritual forces should work together for betterment of the country. Referring to the brain drain she said the youth who, after getting education in the country, are working in foreign countries, should also think for their own country and should return for the interest of their nation.

Smt Kiran Chopra expressed concern over the growing number of old age homes in the country and stressed the need to develop self-confidence among senior citizens who contributed a lot for the development of the country. She also stressed the need to take benefit from the experiences of senior citizens.

Sadhvi Maitreyi said efforts are being made in the country to misguide the young generation through education and fashion. She emphasised the need to include yoga, pranayam and religious activities in our daily life. Delhi Prant Sanghachalak of RSS Shri Ramesh Prakash Sharma said women could play a key role in protection of the Indian culture. Prant Karyavahika Smt Radha Mehta proposed a vote of thanks.
